I have 2 mini Rexes, I believe they are both girls. I have had them for just over a year. They have lived together for over a year. I have checked on my own and I think they are both girls. But today Bea mounted Olive. I gently pulled her off, but she just kept going back and humping olive. I don’t know if it is normal for girl bunnies to do that, they are over a year and a half old. Wouldn’t that have already had babies if they could?

Bunnies hump for a variety of reasons. It can be from a fluctuation in hormones but also to assert dominance, stress or even from excitement.

I fostered pair of lop girls that began mounting each other once they hit puberty. It didn’t escalate into fighting, so they were able to remain together.

With humping though, it *may* trigger a false pregnancy in one or both girls. Have they experienced that at all?

It wouldn’t be a bad idea to get a health check done by a rabbit savvy vet and determine their gender for certain. I would think there would have been babies by now if you had a male/female pair, but it is possible some rabbits to be delayed in development and bucks to have undescended testicles.

I have a boy and a girl minilop bunnies and they are a bonded pair. They’re both spayed and neutered, sometimes Romeo (the boy) will hump Juliet (the girl) and sometimes Juliet will hump Romeo. I feel like it’s a dominance thing or a annoyance thing for my case. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about unless they do it excessively.

Thank you!! I love your rabbits names, Romeo and Juliet. That’s so cute!
