In describing my litter box in another thread, I realized that just throwing away my micro shredded paper that I use for my bunny’s litter might be given yet another life.

For those of you who garden, or know anything about it, is it ok to compost things with bunny urine and droppings on it? I hate the thought of it, but then I remembered that this is pretty much what manure is. I don’t have a compost myself, but my neighborhood does, so it would be great if I could collect a week’s worth in an airtight canister, then go drop off on Sundays before church. I’d feel so good about that if I could! But wouldn’t want to do it if it would upset someone or be bad for their gardens.

        Thanks BB!

Yes, it’s perfectly ok to compost bunnied-on litter. I compost my used litter (wood stove pellets and straw pellets). Rabbit droppings/pee can be used as fertilizer right away though, you don’t have to let it “burn” like you need f ex horse manure. It won’t hurt anybody’s garden.

What might upset people is more difficult to say though. Some might not like the idea of pee and poop.
