        This is long long long.

I haven’t been on here in so long! I keep telling myself you’ll be able to post regularly soon. But then I don’t get to. I miss keeping up with everyone and their bun buns. But, I’m working 4 jobs right now and trying to go back to school plus planning to move across the country as soon as I find a job and a house.

Quite a bit has happened lately (no pictures right now! Sorry). First both bunners are fine Moonshine has grown a ton and his big giant ears are still his worst enemy. Gypsy loo is still miss Diva Lazy Bones. The vet and I are trying to work out a plan for her to lose weight. If anyone remembers my bunny Marshmallow she is beginning to take on a Marshmallow shape and it worries me to no end. We can’t restrict her food any further or she would starve. She is not an on the go bunny so the calories have no where to go. We’ve tried everything to get her to exercise but she refuses.

The bonding process is going terribly. We will make huge steps forward and one of them will suddenly decide they hate the other. The bonding was going so well they were sharing a pen. Then Gypsy decided that she didn’t want that any longer and straight up attacked Moonshine. Luckily Moonshine is a laid back dude and high tailed it out of the situation.

On the other side, my cat Tiger has had it pretty rough. I was out of town for a month and left all of my pets with a sitter. I got a call that Tiger had gotten out (no unusual he is a bolter) but told her to keep checking with the vet because he is chipped and tagged. But then her story turned into a bookshelf had fallen on him and broke his pelvis and tail. I immediately sent money to my vet and told them she was bringing him in. I stupidly didn’t check back with the vet to see if he had been brought in. I arrive home 2ish weeks ago to find my sweet sweet boy mangled. He had an obviously broken pelvis. He could not pee or poop on his own. And his tail and complete underside had so much gangrene I could smell him from my front door.

This girl actually demanded I pay her extra for “caring” for him while he was hurt. I not only didn’t pay her one penny I am now in the process of suing her.

I rush my boy to the vet and was told he had maybe a week at that before he would have died. His whole tail was amputated. They had to remove dead tissue from his back, legs, anus, penis and stomach. His penis had to essentially be repositioned farther back onto his body just so they could save it. He is on so many medications it is hard to keep up including an anti-anxiety medication for what the vet called “Cat PTSD” he is terrified of literally everything.

I am having a hard time keeping up with his care financially since I have to buy diapers for him (he has very little control so he has to wear diapers until the nerves hopefully heal in time), special litter, medications, I had to purchase a cat cage so he doesn’t hurt himself, plus pay off the $700+ veterinary bill. Overwhelmed is not even the word. I’m basically working just to keep my animals afloat right now. My landlord was kind enough to give me a break after all of this happened.

But in the end it is all worth it to have them safe and happy.

Hi Sonn! We’ve been missing you too

That’s so awful about your poor kitty!!! Why on earth didn’t the sitter take him to the vet?? Well that’s of course rather academic now, thank goodness you got home when you did! No wonder he’s traumatized Many, many healing-vibes for (((((Tiger)))))

It’s really difficult to make a bun who doesn’t like exercise lose weight. I had to with Bam once, but that was in the spring when I could forage lots for him outside so he could fill up on lots of low cal greens.
So glad Moonshine is well He’s a beautiful boy!

            Yes, we miss you too…

I’m so sad to read that about your kitty. I can’t even imagine how terrible that must be for him and you…….I’m so hoping that he makes it and heals well….

I can understand the difficulty in trying to keep up with vet bills. My cat was poorly last week and Bindi’s in and out of the vet.

I’m happy to hear the bunnies are well. And that’s okay if you don’t find time to come on regularly. As long as you pop in with updates. 4 jobs. You’re like a super star in that you can pop on at all!!!!

Well, duh, who wouldn’t miss us?

I am sorry to hear about Tiger though. That’s just awful. As a pet sitter, are they not required to take an animal in their care to the vet? I would be absolutely furious.

Hi there, good to hear from you. I just love your avatar with your beautiful E-lop

I’m so terribly sorry to hear about what happened to Tiger, I can’t even imagine something like that. How on earth could she leave him in that state. It’s so awful. Wishing you all the best with the process of suing her, hopefully it can cover all the expenses for you.

Healing vibes for Tiger, and weight loss vibes for Gypsy

Goodness me. My ignorant self would think an animal sitter loves animals…. but is suppose not all childcarers really care for the kids in their care… its just about the money.

So sorry about Tiger. Sue away and hope that person never has animals in her care again…

I unfortunately didn’t go through an agency or anything for a pet sitter. This woman has watched my pets often before she even takes my dog for cancer treatments regularly when I am not home. So either she caused him to be in the shape he was in and didn’t want to admit it or who knows why she didn’t take him.

He is doing pretty well he doesn’t appreciate having to wear a diaper but he is getting back to normal. He played with some toys last night without completely freaking out on me.

As for Gypsy I have taken to dangling a piece of strawberry in front of her and running her all over my house.

I’m curious, what is her explanation of not taking Tiger for treatment, which apparently he so obviously, visibily, physically needed.?

(Be it her fault or not, she surely didn’t think you’d NOT notice ?! I’ve just thought, maybe she hoped that he wouldn’t make it before you returned and so you wouldn’t have seen Tiger again to see a difference!?! )

She had no excuse. She told me she had taken him and he had a broken pelvis and was told by my vet to keep him in a crate to heal. Now having worked with cats with broken pelvises this is a fairly common practice. So i didn’t think anything of it. My neighbor is the one who alerted me to the state he was in and I flew home a day earlier. Almost lost my job but I wasn’t going to just leave him there.

I also think that she was hoping he would die before I got home. Which makes me also think she pulled his tail or stomped on him.

Speaking of the pet sitter she is attempting to counter sue me for not paying her. I hope this works in my favor. I am in so much debt right now from his emergency plus my dog having cancer that it’s not even funny.

But I would literally sell my house and live in a barn if it meant my babies are healthy.

Glad the buns are doing well. Too bad you could dangle a strawberry over a treadmill for Gypsy.

Why would that awful pet sitter want the poor cat to die before you got home? I just wonder what the heck is wrong with some people. Also, did the vet just tell her to put the cat in a cage? No cast or anything to help the bones heal?

^I think with broken hips or whatever it was, you can’t actually cast them, often they give painkillers etc and then are just required to have cage rest until it heals. It’s the same with collarbones for people, they put the arm in a sling to stop you waving it around, but they can’t actually do much for it except just give you painkillers and wait till it heals.

No the vet told her no such thing. She didn’t even see or talk to a vet. She put him in a dog crate and basically left him there until I got home. She cared for him as if he wasn’t injured at all.

He is slowly adapting to not having a tail. He still can’t seem to master jumping on top of things and kind of falls off sometimes but he is getting there. I’ve made it easier for him to get into his favorite windows.

This is him and my other cat Popcorn about a week after his surgery. Tiger is obviously the one without a tail and looking less than amused.

He’s still a beautiful kitty, only more bun-like now without a long tail. He just needs to grow longer ears, or maybe he could borrow a little bit from Moonshine? =)

Maybe he was just trying to be one of the buns. His best friend is Moonshine. Lol.

As far as I know she is full dutch. But where she came from she could be mixed. She is very lazy. Like when I let her out to run around most of the time she just loafs somewhere. I learned my lesson about cat and dog food from Miss Marshmallow so no food is down when she either bun is out.

Haven is doing pretty well. He’s responding to radiation and had surgery a few months ago. He surprised even the vet who said it would probably be really hard on him given his age (14 in June). Other than sleeping more than when he was younger and a bit of cataracts in his right eye he still has the puppy on the go energy.

He is my heart animal and when he does pass it is going to probably be one of the most difficult days I have ever faced. He’s been with me through the worst in my life.

On a happier note I think I’ve found a way of bonding Moonshine and Gypsy. It is a slow process but they did not fight at all yesterday and have not fought today. Lucky for me 2 of my jobs I do from home so other than Monday-Wednesday I am at home and can watch them.

Just catching up on this thread after reading about Gypsy, god Sonn you are going through it.
I really hope you’ve won your lawsuit by now. That person needs to never touch an animal again, imo. How anyone could allow such a beautiful animal to get in the state you described is worse than criminal…it’s just plain evil.
And then to come back at you with a counter suit??? I’m sorry, I just can’t even….

You are such a hard worker and you give so much to your fur family. You don’t deserve all this.
Tiger is gorgeous, btw…gosh he looks just like my first kitty, Peanuts. <3
Give him lots of squishy hugs from me, will you? And Moonshine, Haven (my Shadow had mast tumors, they’re awful aren’t they?  ) and Popcorn too. For that matter, all your furries if I’ve missed someone.  And a big hug for you too.

I did win a few days ago. I meant to give an update but got unbelievably busy. The ‘sitter’ has to pay for all veterinary costs from his injuries as well as any future costs he may incur due to them as well as the diapers and sanitary shaves he has to have for who knows how long. She is also having to pay punitive damages.

I originally wasn’t going to go after the punitive damages but the lawyer explained it wasn’t just for my benefit but also to punish her and to show that her actions were not okay.

While she wasn’t ordered not to pet sit or anything like that I live in a very small town and it is unlikely she will find that sort of work since almost everyone knows about Tiger.

All in all I am happy with how it turned out. I wish it hadn’t have happened in the first place but it is what it is.

Those tumors are a pain! Luckily they aren’t spreading or getting bigger at the moment. He has one on his chest that bothers him a bit but the vets are reluctant to do surgery because of his age.

I have so many furry and scaled creatures that sometimes I even forget who is who. Yesterday I was calling Haven and called him every other pet name other than his own. He of course just stood there staring at me.

                                                                    How’s Tiger doing anyway?

Sorry for the late LATE response. I haven’t had time to do much.

Tiger is doing pretty well. He is still unstable on his feet a bit but can jump onto the cat tower now. His personality seems completely different. He was a very relaxed chill cat and now he is erratic, jumpy, hyper, and OMG is he loud now. He starts meowing for no reason at all. The vet has him on two different anxiety medications neither which are working.

I am having major diaper issues. He gets them off in a nano-second. I tried looking at cat diapers that have suspenders but they are way way too expensive for me currently. I can’t afford $30+ for a diaper. So for now he is using baby diapers that last 2 seconds and I end up with pee down the hallway or even in my bed. I really want cat diapers that you can pop in the washer and he can’t get off. But I’m dealing with what I have right now.

But all in all he is stable and pretty content. I just have had to rearrange my schedule a bit to scrub down every surface he ‘leaks’ onto before bed.

I’m terribly sorry Tiger and you had to go through all that pain and heartache – plus side,.. perhaps now, that sitter wont ever find work again, caring for anyone else’s beloved pets.
