Somewhere between 4 and 5 years. Poor Latte is hunched in a corner and unusually, doesn’t want lap time.

Choco wouldn’t eat his veg this morning, and hadn’t finished last nights either. A quick check to see what might be wrong showed a 2 cm lump under one of his nipples that wasn’t there a few days ago. Speedy and Grace both died due to mammary tumours, so I recognised it instantly and rang the vets the minute they opened. Unfortunately, the only apt they had was half an hour before they shut, so its been a long day. He spent most of the day in a nest in the hay, and by this afternoon, he was shuddering, and making whimpering little weeeeks. and he went to bite me when I picked him up. He’s never bitten before. I was fretting over every minute he had to wait to see the vets. From Speedy, I learnt the hard way how fast mammary tumours spread in a piggy, so I made the difficult choice to have Choco pts before he suffered much, same as I did with Grace. He went to the vets snug in his hay nest, cosy and well cushioned. The picture was taken maybe 2 hours before the end

Thankfully my eldest was home from uni for the weekend, and so he got to say goodbye, and came with me to the vets.

I’m so sorry, poor little Choco. How lucky he was to have such a wonderful family. He was such a pretty boy with that amazing, glossy fur.

I hope you’ll be able to comfort Latte.

Oh J, so sorry. What a horrid long day having to wait for the vets appt. As bam says, what a lovely family he had to live his life in.
(((( Popcorn like an out of control jelly bean little Choco ))))

Can Latte be comforted in the presence of the buns ? xx

Poor Choco! You took the best decision possible for him, to ease his suffering. I know it’s hard, so very hard, to bring a companion to the vet one last time.
I hope that you, Latte and the bunnies can help eachother through the next days with lots of cuddles.

I’m sorry G.J. Your heart must have sunk when you found the lump.
I know how dearly you love the piggies as you share a lot about them on here. I hope Latte can take some comfort from you and the other furbabies.

                    Sleep tight, little Choco !

                      Oh no, GJ…
I’m so sorry to hear about Choco. He was such a handsome and sweet piggy, and I know how loved he was. It really sucks that these dear little creatures are so vulnerable to the cursed disease. At least you caught it early enough to offer him comfort.
(((popcorn free little guy))) and hugs to you, GJ

Aw no He looks like such a sweet little piggy. So sad how fast things can develop but thankfully you were able to ease any suffering. Poor poor Choco, he looks beautiful. My heart goes out to you. I have recently developed an interest in guinea pigs though I’ve no physical experience with them, seeing them popcorning (on YouTube) makes my heart melt. I’m sure your little Choco is popcorning away right now *hugs*
