Well, new rabbit Gandalf was picked up from the RSPCA yesterday (no hay or hiding place :/ ) They are with the rabbit whisperer for bonding for the next week or two.

Day 1 was so difficult for me. Bramble is entirely submissive and spent the first introduction thumping, being humped and having a little fur pulled and generally not enjoying it! She has just taken it all bless her and only after a few minutes tries to hop away. I haven’t bonded with Gandalf yet so seeing him abuse my poor little Bramble was pretty heartbreaking but I knew I should expect it.

I’m sure it will work as they’re more settled this afternoon nd actually seem to be enjoying each others company. Fingers crossed!! Pics to follow xx

It’s so cool you have professional bonders in the U.K.! Keeping my fingers crossed for the happy bonding of the two

Today we have had a super good day!! No more humping (so relieved – poor Bramble!!!) And Bramble is grooming Gandalf. None in return but Bramble has been the submissive bun, making no attempt to hump, nip, get away. Bless her!! Things are as well as I could have hoped for at the moment, so completely over the moon!!! Xx

OMG they look so cute together! This is where our Brambles differ – my Bramble was the alpha bun from the minute Ron came through the door! It took Bramble a good while to groom Ron back, I guess these things just take time but it looks like your buns are doing well together so far

Agreed. I wish I would have been able to get some help when I was attempting to bond my boys.

They’re back with me now and I’ve missed Bramble so much!! The sweetest natured little bun. We are definitely not fully bonded but slowly slowly catchy monkey.

Gandalf is a bit of a problem. Brambles a submissive sweetie and he is definitely the boss. She gives lots of grooming but when she asks he is having none of it. The main problem i have is that he is possessive of the litter tray. He charges her when she tries to go near. Should I remove it? Bramble hates not using it :/

I would add in one or two more litter trays instead if you can. Taking it out will only end in a toilet mess if thats their only one, where as if they have more, there is less need to fight over who uses which

Thanks, Mike. And everyone else! It would have been very difficult to diy bond. I’m very lucky they have bonders in the UK. I admire everyone who is doing their own. I watched for the first half hour and felt anxious, guilty and so on edge! I took the cowards option handing them over! I know it’s all worth it in the end though.

We now have grooming both ways Bramble loves it and is demanding to be groomed all the time lol she loves the attention. Gandalf is refusing and grooming maybe 50/50 so it’s looking really good. They’re very sweet together.

We’re going to the vets today so hopefully being in the carrier will help. The RSPCA don’t give their buns the RHD2 vaccine so Gandalf needs his jabs.

I will start thinking about letting them in the garden together for a mad hour soon. I don’t know if Gandalf has been outside but Brambles going a little crazy without her run time. Catching G will likely be a nightmare though lol
