Poop shouldn’t be sticking to her bottom, if it’s mushy enough to get stuck in her fur you may need to look at adjusting her diet.

Before that though, you can try to clip her fur down there for the time being, however you need to be extremely careful that you don’t nick the skin. You can give her a little butt bath, 1cm of water in a dish to splash water on the area to clean it up, however you need to be careful not to cause more irritation. I’m not sure what to put on the skin in that area to help soothe it.

In regards to the mushy poop, is she eating lots of hay? Grass hay is the most important part of their diet and is the best thing for getting poops nice and solid and round, mushy poops are frequently caused by too many pellets, too many greens/veggies, too many treats, poor quality pellets etc. If you can get to the root of the problem, you won’t have more issues with the poop getting stuck in her fur.

I agree, the skin is thin and sensitive down there. If she has poopy butt, a butt bath and sanitary shave would be a safer way to clean her up and keep her clean. I know your bunny doesn’t have urine scald, but this site lists some soothing products: http://www.disabledrabbits.com/urine-scald.html

Once you have her all cleaned up, you’re going to need to address the poopy butt issue so it doesn’t continue to happen. Is this something that has been ongoing? Has she seen a vet for it? What is her diet like?

You can get a vet to give your rabbit a hygiene clip on her bottom. If it is something they are used to doing, they would be able to do it carefully, without nicking the delicate skin. Your vet may have some good ointment to recommend too. I have heard of using Bag Balm on rabbit’s skin. You could also try plain Neosporin, the kind without any pain relief. Even if you don’t get the vet to clip the fur on her bottom, it might be a good idea for him or her to check out your rabbit and get you the best ointment to clear up the irritation. If you do give her a butt bath, you can use a little bit of soap, but it needs to be a very mild, hypoallergenic soap, something like Kirk’s Castille.
