My bunny is around 6 mo old and has had a bit of what appears to be dried mucus above her nose.

Shes had this for some time but hasn’t showed another other symptoms so i thought it might just be a genetic trait.

        Does this look like snuffles

Is it definitely mucus? Will it come away if you hold a warm, wet wash cloth to it for a bit?
How do her paws look? Sometimes you can tell they had a gunky nose if the paws look cruddy, as they’ll use them to clean away any nasal discharge.

I tried cleaning it a couple days ago and it came off a bit

Her paws seem to be fine. If this helps at all she is normally an outdoor rabbit but is staying in our garage due to cold weather and snow outside.

            Edit:

She is pooping, eating, and behaving normally. Could something in the garage be irritating her nose —  I think thats when it started when i began moving her to the garage

Any opaque looking mucus is a concern as it’s sign of possible infection. It would warrant a vet visit.

Could there be anything in the garage upsetting her respiratory system? Are you using a new type of product in her temporary habitat at all that could be an irritant?

It’s just a bit odd that it’s above her nose…

I thought that was weird too

It started around a month ago — but at first I figured it was due to the cold weather until I did some research. We have a lot of stuff in our garage but I know we have finishes and paints. Could it be caused by too much ammonia? I clean her hutch weekly.

Edit: We are having someone check on her in about a week. Her nose is moist but not wet.

                Heres a list:

~ A new toy from zamzows

~ A hay holder from pet co

~ A ziploc box for her to play with

~ Some fleece to keep her warm

~ A colored plastic bin to hold her hay (which I took out)
~ This was only in her cage for about a week but a small towel

One other thing is that when i  let her outside (when it was warm enough too)  there was this old cedar hutch — even when she got near it she would only be there for a few minutes

Sorry, I didn’t see your edit before.

If not mucus, I wonder if a fungal skin infection or the beginnings of crusts sometimes seen with rabbit syphilis?

Perhaps the move has caused some stress or the change in temp triggered something. Bit of a catch-22 though, as she couldnt be out in the bad weather.

Edit: I took a more clear picture: I talked to a breeder and a vet (through email) and they both thought it was snuffles…

I will be gone all of next week… and i dont have time to take her to the vet (which is across town) would it be safe to leave her for the week…. and is snuffles curable.? Also we have guinea pigs so i was wondering if it was zoonotic and they could get it

That yellow discharge is the most concerning thing to me. I would seriously get your bun to a rabbit savvy vet as soon as possible to rule out snuffles. If it is Pasteurella causing the snuffles, it can be very difficult to treat but symptoms can be managed if you catch it early enough.

Can you organise someone else to take her?
