Any tips for breaking this habit? I know he will be marking it and simple thing would be put nothing new in there but two reasons I’m hoping there is a magic fix 1. I like buying him things so when he is older I’d like to be able to sometimes without him wrecking it with urine or attempting too and peeing over side of cage instead like he did tonight!
        2. We are still learning what he likes , how high he can safely jump , how textured is textured enough for his step stool etc etc so that involves alterations as we learn about him at the moment which can’t be avoided

Any tips ? He’s 10weeks old so not old enough to be neutered yet
Also will this stop once he is neutered??

This is most likely a territorial issue. I suggest not giving him anything that can be ruined by urine in his cage for now. No fun, I know, but this will most likely stop, or at least, stop being so frequent after his neuter.

Does he have more than 1 litterbox? If not, you can try adding another. That might make his house smell more satisfactorily like him.

He just has one litter tray – a big corner one , didn’t want to add another again if I can avoid it as it takes a lot of space in his cage
I’ve emptied out his cage now – it just has a step stool and a tunnel in it

Not all bunnies like corner litter boxes. Of my three, only one likes the corner litter box we have. Rabbits can be very picky where they go to the bathroom, so it might be worth buying a cat litter box and swapping it for your corner one to see if he likes that one any better. He also may be one of the very picky bunnies who prefer more than one litter box

It could also be his age and he is marking things he considers “his”. If it is this, it will slow down/stop sometime after neutering

He does like the corner ( we tried three others prior and he only liked this one ( it’s a jumbo scatterless lock n litter – with grill) and we had him almost completely litter trained… then we went for his first vet visit – to a rabbit savvy vet who sees 75% rabbits out of his total patients …. I think the smells there through him off – he came home and stood on his step stool and sprayed it and over it to the wall … then I took it out and put his fiddlesticks in and he did the same – then other corner … then I put his tunnel in later that night and he did the same. Next day he peed on me … third day today and he waited till we moved try to clean it and he sped straight under it as I lifted it and sprayed …. I rung the vet and he has moved his neuter forward to 3.5 months old ( in 2.5 weeks)

If hes spraying too it is more than likely hormone related Make sure his boys have dropped first. You shouldnt have a neuter done until his testicles can be seen or it has the possibility to cause unwanted complications

He saw the vet the other day and he said he is happy to neuter Oakley in 6 weeks and booked him in so I’m presuming he had dropped already ( he shaved the area from poopy butt so I presume he checked it all then )

He is the vet that does all our rescue centres in our region so very clued up and rabbit savvy – I’m pretty sure he would have checked but I’ll ask again when I take him in

                        It does sound hormone-releated

I agree… I hope neutering fixes it! My past bucks never sprayed… first was a neutered at 4months buck – next after him was a entire and both I never had that issue with… will suck if it’s not going to stop… will mean I have to get inventive on a spray proof indoor hutch….

Since I switched to pine litter I already can’t have anything wood in his cage except willow and apple sticks – if it’s pine , cardboard or things like fiddlesticks he would pee on them over and over …

Blankets or plastic he is fine with ( although this new spray thing made me have to remove the off the ground ones like his step stool so he can’t pee over the plastic base of cage….

I guess for after his neuter ( changing nothing in his cage around till then now ) I need some plastic toy / layout ideas for him

He now has a step stool I can use after neuter , a ware tunnel plastic large one he has in his cage along with a marble tile a plastic bird toy hanging that has plastic chains on it and he has baby links

I was thinking a plastic cat bed? Would that be any good?
Any cool ideas? I would like it to look good and not like a pile of chucked together stuff as it is in my lounge …. I had big plans of going “natural” – pine log huts and pine chew blocks – fiddlesticks and wood hideaways etc…. that’s all gone out the window !

He’s one unique little guy I tell you!
