My bun has started sneezing a lot over the last few days. He has fits where he’ll sneeze 5-10 times in a row. Occasionally, he’ll just sneeze once. No discharge or mucus in nose/eyes is present, and he seems fine otherwise. He’s a 6 month old lionhead and was neutered last week. I called the vet but they can’t get in me for 48 hours. Should I be seeking an earlier appointment with a different vet?

Wow no responses? Mine did this one day but it quickly went away. My research indicated he had something stuck in his throat or up nose. Research said it should clear up on own. But yours seems like it’s going on too long to be this issue

If his eating, behavior, and litter habits are normal, then he should be okay until you see your vet . Sneezing could be a sign of respiratory infection or reaction to allergens/environmental causes. I’m wondering if maybe his recovery from the neutering could have weakened his immune system and he could have caught a respiratory infection that way? An occasional sneeze is okay, like a sneeze from a little hay dust, but sneezing 5-10 times in a row multiple times seems to indicate an issue.

Quick update: The original vet cancelled on me and wasn’t available until next week, so I found another place that saw him yesterday. She said that everything seemed to be fine. I had noticed that his sneezing had subsided a little on Thursday as well, so for now it’s just watch and wait. So far so good. The vet said that he could have had underlying pasteurella that was brought out by stress (like being neutered), but if buns are healthy enough they fight it off on their own, which is what could have happened in this instance. Thanks for everyone’s responses!
