        Hello everyone,

OK so I have a new bunny he is just 14 weeks old, I’ve had him since 9 weeks, I’ve had two buns in the past so have some rabbit knowledge but I’ve never before come across the behaviour he is showing. So when in his cage (indoor bun) he is very very loving, he loves to lick hands & faces and would happily do so for hours! But the moment he comes out of the cage he’s total different, he runs far into the rooms corner & charges at me so fast & bites me real hard. Yesterday I was bent over picking something up & he actual jumped on my lower back scratched me to hell & bit enough to draw blood! But as soon as he’s back in the cage he starts obsessively licking  me again. Also this isn’t constant but happens a few times at least daily. I’ve tried the “EEE” noise to show he’s hurt me but it doesn’t help. It’s  also usually only clothed areas like arms/legs. Any ideas on how to nip this in the bud?! And why he might be doing this. Also I know buns do lick for affection but as i say hes happy to go for hours, and sometimes stops me petting him by doing so, is this ok or is he trying to tell me something? My previous two rarely licked and only briefly for a moment if they did. Thanks

It could be hormonal > territorial, but it kind of sounds like he is scared. Sometimes going from a smaller area to a larger area can really scare a rabbit. If possible, use xpens or diy panels to create a smaller area for your bunny. After a week or two, expand a bit more. Continue until he is comfortable with the size of the room

His grooming you is his way of showing that he likes and appreciates you. It could also be a sign of hormones, and he is trying to court you
