So I got a new rabbit yesterday. He’s very young but has been weaned from his mother for some time. He’s 6 weeks old, eats on his own. Everything seems fine in that area. And although I know with rabbits verses other animals they are different, and can be skittish etc. I’m very much looking forward to when things are more comfortable on his end and my own. This IS my 1st rabbit and I’ve done a lot of research. But thoughts and such from other owners are nice to hear. My questions are around what time did your rabbit start getting comfortable with you and what did you do to actually bond with him/her. He is a house bunny, I have him set up in my room with me, and because absolutely everything is new to him I’m not doing much handling with him for at least 3 days because I everything is new. But after that I want to take any and every step I can with him to bond, and for him to become comfortable and happier. Any advice at all or stories on how and when you bonded with your rabbit will be much appreciated and thank you! ^^

Blue took about a month before he was no longer nervous and scared being around me or my boyfriend. Bombur took a little over a year, and hes still not fully comfortable yet (hes still terrified of all strangers, but he feels comfortable enough to be pet by my boyfriend and i). Badger was instantly comfortable with everything and everyone

Bonding with bunnies can be pretty simple. If hes a curious bun, you can just lay on the floor and let him explore you. Avoid trying to pet him or reach for him while hes investigating you. This will help him get used to your scent, and you being around him in a completely nonthreatening way. After a week or few, you can start handing him treats, greens, or pellets when he comes near you or crawls on you. This will show him again that you are nonthreatening, and that you provide goodies! After he is comfortable sitting near you or on you while eating his treats, you can try petting him for a few seconds while hes nibbling. If he runs, dont chase, then go back to a few days of not reaching for him before trying again to pet him

Food is the way to a bunnies heart it took about 1 month to get a super close bond with mine. Just sit with him and whenever he comes close offer a piece of food. When I was bonding with mine I spent days on end sat on the floor watching Netflix while my bunnies hopped around. Don’t try and pick him up for a week or so, if you want him out his cage just open the door and wait for him to hop out. Patience is key
            Good luck xxx
