My bunny Velvet is almost 2 years and I weighed him today at 6.4 lbs. A few months ago he was about one pound less. His diet is the same except for getting two digestive tablets a day now. I am his second mama, and when I got him he was about 6 months. I was not informed of a birth date or exact breed. His ears are a medium size and he is quite large. He has lop ears and is mostly grey and black with a white under coat. I am pretty sure he is a mix though. He doesn’t sit upright like a holland does and is too small to be a French. I’m leaning towards him being a mini with longer ears. I’ve seen pictures of minis with longer ears. I’m not an expert on bunny breeds. Can anyone tell me what he is?

If he is a mini lop, is he full grown and what should his average weight be?

He could be mini lop or mini lop mix.

My Jake came from foster parents who said he’s a mini lop And your velvet sounds JUST like him. Jake weighs 6.3lbs (although his foster parents said he weighed 8). Jake has floppy ears like Velvet’s. And Jake has some variation in his fur like Velvet too.

I’m going to say Velvet is quite likely a mini lop

Thanks, that helps a lot! I wasn’t sure if mini’s varied that much from what I saw online. I definitely think he is a mini lop.

Your bunny looks exactly like mine! My bunny is a mini lop. So yours most likely is a mini lop as well. BTW the color of your bun bun is chestnut agouti… just like mine! LOL! Since she’s two years I would think that she can’t grow anymore than that. Mini lops usually weigh around 4.5 to 6.5 pounds, so your bunny is absolutely great! ?

Thanks! He is black and grey with brown eyes. Could anyone guess what color he is? I have found black chinchilla, chocolate chinchilla, and sable chinchilla as possibilities.

Like I said on my other post, since your bun bun looks exactly like mine, I would say his color is chestnut agouti. ?

A chestnut agouti looks more brown to me though.

Yeah… I guess so. Well then I think it would be Ike a chinchilla color or something familiar… ?

Agouti is also defined as having white feet and white around the eyes according to my breeder. Amelia is mostly grey with toffee colored bands in her coat, but all 4 feet, her tail, and around her eyes are white

Ok, thank you! I think he is a chinchilla, because I found a website that referred to chinchilla as the grey version of an agouti.

I just realized you had uploaded a bigger picture. I fixed it for you. He looks opal to me.

Opal is a form of the agouti pattern:

Surface color is to be blue mingled with fawn. There is a blue band on top of the fawn Intermediate band over a slate-blue undercolor. The chest is to be fawn over a medium slate-blue undercolor. Nape of the neck is to be fawn. Eyes are blue. The belly should have a slate blue undercolor as well. It is a dilute chestnut agouti.

What color are his eyes? It says opals have blue eyes.
