Is it normal to hear your bunny breathing heavily? I think she mostly does it when she’s looking for another treat after I have just given her one, so maybe she is just excited. And her nose isn’t WET, but it always feels a little cold like it could be moist. Is this normally how a cold presents in a bunny?

          Hi there!

My bunny does that too, her breathing is heavier when he is exited, looking for a treat or when he has been running heavily. If wouldn’t be worried if it isn’t accompanied by anything else (like sneezing fits or running nose).

          Hugs!

Luna breathes faster when she’s excited or after running around. If Dorothy is breathing heavily as in slow heavy breaths, then it might be something different.

Bunnies’ noses are often moist. They only breathe through their noses so all moisture from the air and the lungs must pass through the nose. Some of it deposits around the nostrils.

Heavy labored breathing when your bunny is resting is of course sth that should be investigated further. But when they’ve been running around, as Luna says, they breathe faster.
