        Hi folks,

My bunny has been acting weird. I can’t describe how she behaves and  I have taken a video of her.

As i touch her back she tends to lay flat then stretch abit in an unusual manner and sits back up and repeat whenever i touch her back. She’s been sitting by herself for a very long time.

        https://youtu.be/ynczIRvyPA0

She has not been eating/drinking for the past 5 hours and i’m worried sick.

I’m wondering whether any of you know what’s going on but i’ll be taking her to the vet if it is still open as it is christmas holiday.

Just seen your video, vets are around at Christmas, you might have to pay more, but it will be worth it to save your baby, Olly was like that when he had GSI, I’m not saying it is that, hmm is bam online? She might know, do you have children? Have they been running about because it is Christmas?
Bam, can you have a look at a bun bun please?

It looks like gas pain to me. I’m sure a drug store/pharmacy is open, even today. Get some simethicone (baby gas drops) to give to her. It should be the 20mg/ml suspension, which can be given as follows: 1cc per hour for the first 3 hours, then 1cc every 3-8 hours after that (if needed). If she will tolerate it, you can rub to tummy as well. A nice, gentle massage (I like to go in a circular motion) will help break up gas bubbles. I also like to offer dried willow leaves, as this is often the only thing my buns will eat if they have a tummy ache.

If your bunny doesn’t show improvement, then you’ll have to take her to the vet. After 12 hours or not eating/pooping, it’s considered an emergency.

Totally agree agree with LBJ. You can also try to make your bun move around a little too, if possible. It helps gas come out.
It’s also important to keep her warm. You can do that by sitting her in your lap. Your body heat will warm her up, esp if you put a fleece blankie on her.
Here’s a little video with Mary S Cotter about massaging a bunny:

Offer her favorite treats now and then, if she takes a treat she’s starting to feel better. If she doesn’t eat in 8-12 hours, as LBJ and Charlie’s Angel say, it’s time to seek vet care.

If you head any gurgling coming from your bunny’s tummy that would be another sign of gi stasis. Sounds like you got some good tips already, hope your bun feels better soon!

Thank you everyone for your replies, it happened at 8 pm(+8 GMT)  last night and when i posted here its already 3am.

i had to wait till the next day but this morning i heard my bunny tossing her treat bowl around and woke up immediately to give more. She’s eating more now after not eating for 13 hours. Glad that the gas has passed.

Now i know how it looks like when a bunny has gas. Thanks to you peeps.

I’m glad she’s doing better now! Definitely keep simethicone on hand just in case she has another episode. I always keep it on hand since Leopold will have gas now and then and it seems to help him.

Good, has she used the bathroom? Luckily my boy gets gas and climbs on my lap, kisses me and then makes a big bottom noise.
