Ella is a smaller bunny, just about two pounds and she is 11 months. I always worry if I am feeding her too much or too little.

Typically, she eats 1 tablespoon of pellets in the morning and another at night. She has proven to be picky about what veggies she likes so she normally also has romaine (about a cup or a little more) in the morning, and another cup of veggies at night – her favorite is cilantro. I do switch up her veggies each week but I don’t think she likes to try new things. She also has tons of hay – of course.

She will get an occasional snack of carrots or a fruit every now and then but not very often and not everyday. Should a small fruit snack be an everyday thing?

What does a typical day of feed your rabbits look like?

Does it seem like I should be feeding her more or less?

I have read a lot about what rabbits eat and also talked to my vet but it is nice to hear about what other people do! Especially since Ella is my first bunny and we’ve only been together for about three months.

        THANKS!

I think your diet plan is a really good one! It is very similar to what I feed Olaf and what I’ve seen recommended elsewhere. Olaf weighs a bit more than your bun so he gets a quarter cup of pellets once a day but otherwise I do the same — a cup of greens morning and night and orchard hay at all times. I mix up his greens between baby romaine, a leafy greens mix, and parsley.

I do give him a treat everyday but vary it up. One baby carrot, a freeze dried banana chip, or a nibble of unsweetened dried papaya.

Some people don’t give any treats and that is perfectly okay. The House Rabbit Society has a great rundown of nutritional information. I think since your bun is so small you’ve found a good balance of greens and pellets. It is also worth noting that weighing your rabbit regularly can help monitor their health and diet if you’re worried about any loss or gain. http://rabbit.org/natural-nutrition-part-ii-pellets-and-veggies-2/

My Buttercup weighs 1.24kg (well, that’s what she weighed a week and a half ago) and Peanut weighs 1.29kg. They are 4 months old. Here’s what they eat:
-Two tablespoons of pellets in the morning
-Unlimited oat grass, with dandelion or plantain sprinkled on top (I’ve got more dried weeds and flowers to try but so far they’ve only had these two)
-One romaine lettuce leaf in the evening (once Peanut has recovered from neutering I will introduce more veggies slowly)
-A bedtime treat of either sunflower petals or a small piece of carrot. I also give them a couple pieces of chicory root.
