I just got Amelia home from her spay, and all around her eyes is all dirty. I’m sure it’s the lube that they use in their eyes to protect them during surgery, but it’s pretty greasy. Any ideas on how I can get it out?

My Ellie gets snot all over her fur from her current bout of snuffles so I use a facecloth with some gentle soap and warm water. That being said, I’m not sure if I’d be keen to use soap near her eyes. Perhaps some warm water might do the trick?

Yeah I’m figuring my best plan of attack for tomorrow, if it’s giving me issues I’ll see if the vet has any ideas when they check on her tomorrow

Washcloth with warm water will suffice. You want to avoid using any kind of soap etc on bunnies due to extremely fragile and sensitive skin

Yeah I wouldn’t use soap around the eyes, I’m just concerned if it’s petroleum based warm water will just smear it further. The joys of a long haired bunny

Hmm something I never thought of until now was baby wipes! Maybe unscented baby wipes would work? I’ve used them with other animals and they’ve never reacted badly. Some vets and pet stores sell similar wipes made specifically for animals so maybe that might be worth a try provided that they don’t contain any harsh chemicals…
