My bunnies were having Alfalfa King Timothy Hay for quite a while and their poops were a goldeny brown. I was running low on it and had been meaning to try them on Friendly Green Oat Readigrass that I brought a couple of weeks ago so I thought this is the perfect opportunity.

Since switching to the Oat grass, I’ve noticed their poops are a lot darker – they’re sort of a mix of goldeny brown with dark almost black colouring. I noticed they get dark poops after they have hay cookies too. I’m just wondering if this is normal, that different hays will create different coloured poop? They are perfectly round poops, normal size and when I squish them or break them apart there is golden bits of hay inside. So, aside from the colour, they are totally normal.

I’m planning on varying the hay and grass I give them day to day to stop them getting bored and keep things interesting but obviously wanna know about the poops first!

It’s perfectly normal. My Bam too has darker poop when he eats oat hay. It’s his favorite, but just like you’re planning to, I try to give him a variety.
