So we just finished bunny bonding session one! I’m bonding my male and female. But any advice on how to carry out the next few sessions?
Here’s how their first date went:
They spent about 90% of their time trying to get out of the laundry basket. Lol. But when Augustus would go to the other side of the basket he’d nip Octavia and if he nipped more than once I’d put my hand between them. Then Octavia attempted to mount him twice but she’s about half his size so it didn’t work
Then basically Gus got bored and flopped while Octavia was still trying to get out. After a minute she settled down next to him and I pet both trying to mix their scents and neither minded.
Then I decided to shake the basket around a bit causing Gus to get nervous and put his forehead to Octavia’s. After that she wouldn’t move and he basically ignored she was there (even stepping on her a few times) I waited for them to lay down again and ended the session on that.
Should I bond them in a larger space so they won’t be so focused on escaping or should I continue staring small? Any tips/advice would be great

I have had very good success using an x-pen for bonding. If the pen had previously been used, it should be washed off to remove any scents. Lay a blanket or sheet down to mask any scents in the carpet or rugs. My husband and I get in the x-pen with the bunnies, to break up any fighting (some scuffling is normal) or excessive humping. They can move and even run around some, but they are still confined to a rather small space.
