        Hello!

(Not sure if this should be here or in behavior….)

So I am a little worried since for the past few days Nox has been eating and drinking and going pee twice as much as usual. Pop is the same amount though. I thought it was because I changed her pellets (I couldn’t find the brand I usually got) but I was wondering if anyone knew of anything else that would cause in the increase and if I should be concerned?

        Thanks!

If she eats more pellets, she needs to drink more.If she drinks more she’ll pee more. It’s weird that there’s not more poop though.

An increase in food intake is not really an observandum. If a bunny gets something yummy, a healthy bunny will eat it. Increased drinking follows from increased intake of dry food.

What type of pellets is she getting now? What was she getting before?

Could be a change in diet. When I got my bun to eat more hay by cutting the stems, he started drinking and peeing twice as much and his pee became clear and watery like. I too was concerned, but he seems to be doing fine (I hope). Rabbits seem so sensitive to diet change, just a slight change in diet can change its poop, pee and habits.

So I took her to the vet just in case and it turns out she is just bored and likes the sound the ball makes when she drinks ><

Thank you for taking her to the vet just in case. I’m glad they found nothing wrong with her!

You could perhaps serve some of her pellets in a treat ball? Scatter some pellets around so she has to search a little for them? in nature, buns and horses and dogs and birds (and all other animals) don’t get their dinner served (of course), so they have all these innate tools for foraging that they never get to use in captivity, and that can make them bored and frustrated.

Apple and willow twigs can also be good boredom-breakers, because they take a little time to eat.

                  Thanks for the advice!
She has lots of toys including willow balls and twigs to chew but she just ignores them. She had one toy she liked to play with but it was a puzzle toy that she was meant to take apart. I got her another toy similar to that one but she doesn’t seem to have much interest in it. She is 4.5 months so I am guessing hormones are kinda driving her a little wonky. She doesn’t run around and binky much anymore either. Prefers to sit and nap. This behavior as also why I brought her to the vet but she assured me everything was fine and Nox was just going through a mood.
