So I have been feeding my bun Oxbow until I got the recommendation of Sherwood Forest Pellets from a trusty breeder friend. She said the Sherwood is the only “no crap” brand out in the market. I switched my bun to Sherwood recently, the transition was not easy as it was like giving your kids salad instead of mac and cheese. The package said I could feed my bun unlimited amounts since there is no soy or grains in it but I am still a little hesitate. Just wondering if anybody else is using the same pellets and feeding unlimitedly?

Well, I tried to get mine to eat Sherwood Forest Pellets, and he was not a fan. When I got past a 50% mix, he stopped eating pellets all together, got tiny poops, and I got worried he was about to have stasis. I tried a again more slowly, and the same thing happened again.. So I would love to hear how you managed to finally transition yours. I’m thinking though that if they dislike it that much, and will only eat it as a last resort, you don’t need to worry too much about them eating unlimited amounts.

I transitioned my bun to the Sherwood pellets over a period of a week and he seems to like them just fine now (not crazy like, but he still prefers the pellets over hay). I just start mixing the Sherwood with the old pellets and increased the percentage of Sherwood everyday. He would initially only pick out the old pellets to eat but as the old pellets were gone, he started to eat the Sherwood. I mixed the Sherwood and the old pellets in a jar and shake really well for some of the flavors to combine. I started with 1/2 cup each combined and added 1/4 Sherwood to the jar everyday. My thoughts are because the Sherwood does not have molasses so the buns won’t find it as attracting, but it does seem healthier, and the buns litterbox smells a lot better now! Hopefully thats helpful.

I just got my order of Sherwood, and Amelia loves them. I was suspecting a bit of a rough transition based on others experience, but she gobbled them up right out of my hand and then stole the top of the bag I had ripped off. She even picked out the few I had mixed in with her other pellets. Guess my girl is a health food girl

I gave mine Sherwood for a while. I liked it – I thought they had a shinier coat. I stopped buying it coz it did take a while to get them all to eat it. But maybe I’ll give it another try.
