Hi everyone! i want to start giving charlie some veggies but am not sure where to start. i’ve read that romaine has a lot or water in it but is ok given in small portions. is it ok to start with that? don’t want to cause any tummy upset in him

        thanks!!

          Hi Taylor!
I was always told that romaine was a safer lettuace to feed. I started Caramel on that when we brought him home form the shelter. As far as I know that was the first veggies he’d had. We added arugula into his diet later which he likes more than the romaine but he’ll eat both.

Romaine is a good green to start with. Some other good ones are red or green leaf lettuce and cilantro.

Here is a good article on greens and fruits: http://rabbit.org/suggested-vegetables-and-fruits-for-a-rabbit-diet/

Start slowly and try one new green a week.

i gave him a small piece tonight and the second i introduced it he flew across his cage like i was trying to poison him LOL. left it in his room and when i went back in he ate it, so just going to keep introducing it slowly and try cilantro next week!!

My bunnies weren’t interested in romaine lettuce when I first tried to hand it to them but I left it in their hutch and by morning it was gone. That happened the first two nights. Now they eat it the second I give them it, no waiting around here! Buttercup sometimes even snatches it out of our hand lol!
