Last Tuesday night Wubbie was snuggling with me and I was giving him his nightly full body massage (lol) soo.. I was rubbing his back and I felt a lump. I was overcome with fear and started to panic. He let me inspect it and I saw that it was red and raised. I called his vet first thing in the morning and we headed down there. She shaved the area and was a bit puzzled. It was VERY red, and VERY angry. She said it could indeed be a bite, but it could also be a cyst, abscess, or even a tumor. Once I heard “could require surgery” I was a mess for the next 24 hours thinking of all the worst case scenarios. She treated it as if it was a bite after I told her I even recalled the specific incident I thought he had gotten bit. He got a shot of medicam and she sent home quadritop ointment with me to apply 2-3 times daily. It looked awful, I was histerical, I even bought him a get well soon card with Snoopy and Woodstock on it (hey, I love my bunny! haha) Now just had to wait in suspense, went to bed, and was afraid to even look at it in the morning, but when I did, it DID look a little better! It has been a slow process, but as of today it is getting smaller and smaller and we remain diligent with ointment application and an exterminator has come to the house. My house is very clean and beautiful, but it is built into a hill and due to that the downstairs has a bit of a moisture problem. My poor little guy got bit, and I don’t want anyone else to have to go through what we went through so here is our story and some pictures in case anyone on the forum ever finds themselves in a similar situation!

Right after leaving the vet day two of bite:

Below is day 6. Getting better, slowly but surely.

Thank you for sharing! How very scary! So glad it’s healing up! It must’ve been the get well soon card =)

Poor lil guy. When I see a spider I usually scream and jump back a few feet, but when I see one in my bedroom (Luna’s room), maternal instinct kicks in and I squash the heck out of the creepy crawler!

Ugh I hate them, unfortunately this one was hiding and then it made an attack on my little man.

Wow, seeing it here, shaved, it definitely looks like a spider bite. Poor thing. I’m glad it wasn’t something worse though.
