So we’ve now had a few sessions in a master bathroom (not the tub). None of them have had any biting, nipping, mounting, or chasing. They’ve eaten together multiple times with no problems and have had no intervention through all these sessions whatsoever (never needed). Which includes banana on the nose, tricks like that. Licorice has asked to be groomed a few times, putting his head under Winter’s. She sits still for a bit, but doesn’t groom him, then goes away. He seems slightly disappointed but has no real reaction.

I’ll be putting them in the bathroom today for a bit, but I’d like to do another session as well. What should I do now to progress further?

Another room thats not nearly as neutral as the bathroom sounds like it would be the next step. If they will share a room in the end, setting up a pen and putting them in the pen with towels or blankets lining the floor should work as a next step

I can’t remember who it was that wrote a recent thread but I remember the message behind it said “just because there isn’t any negative action doesn’t mean that things are hunky-dory”. So make sure there is POSITIVE action before thinking they are bonded. I think thread was called a cautionary tale…? Look for grooming and solid bonding signs…. but all sounds good…

They’ve asked for grooming (both) and Winter groomed him for a second once. Then stopped. The only other times they’ve groomed is to get the lettuce off each other’s mouths…

Just wrapped up with the session. Will be having another after dinner, both are up in the bathroom.

Some pics. Licorice is completely zoned out eating, while Winter gives the camera the death stare.   Then Winter shows Licorice just how out of shape he is by making a demonstration of jumping on the scale.

It might not yet be grooming made in heaven, but licking each other’s mouths seems excellent progress !!

Was going to bond more today as I can’t on weekdays, but never got around to it. Tomorrow, I suppose.
