So she pulls all the hay out the hay rack and spreads it all over her fleece blanket (a nightmare to get off) then she pulls it into her litter tray and poops on it. I’m having to refill her hay rack twice a day, she only eats about 20% of what i give her, she just poops on and wastes the rest! Any ideas on how to prevent this?

You could try serving the hay in a container on the floor instead? I expect half the novelty for your rabbit is the act of tugging it out of the rack, so if it’s just flat in a container they might not try to make such a mess.

Ha I think we’ve all got experience of that! You could try putting a container under the hay rack to collect the fall out. Also you could try using a lint roller to clean the fleece!

It’s part of a buns natural foraging-behavior, to go through the hay and pick out the yummiest/best pieces. It’s very impractical for the human, but it’s a nice enriching activity for the bun. If you have access to apple or willow twigs (not treated with pesticides) you could give her twigs and she might concentrate on eating the bark off of those instead of going through her hay like a pillaging Viking.

Haha thanks so much! Tons of great suggestions – thanks especially sarahthegemini for the lint roller idea. Unfortunately whenever I place A container under the hay rack she just poops it it! It’s a relief to know everyone else is having this issue
