Pudge has always had a bad habit for chewing on her cage. She only does it (now) when I enter a room to signal to me that she wants to be let out of her cage. She throws little bunny tantrums if she doesn’t get her way (like when I’m heading to work in the morning…). Pudge has never been one to play with chew toys, either. That being said, I took her to the vet this summer, and her checkup claimed perfect teeth.

I checked her teeth today and they seemed odd to me. The incisors don’t look worn down whatsoever, and they seem long. The alignment doesn’t look right either. I’ll post a few pictures.

Do any of you have pictures of “normal” rabbit teeth, or can you help point out what may be abnormal about Pudge’s teeth? I’ve searched this, but I keep coming up with pictures of advanced malocclusion.

Hmm, apart from being very yellow, they look pretty good to me. The length looks good. On the side view, there’s sort of a divet in the top incisors where it goes from a sharper angle to being more flat. I’m not sure if that change is normal, whether the lower teeth are reaching far forward enough to rub at the front of the upper incisors. I know they’re supposed to be sharp, but I’m not sure if the change in gradient is normal.

Thanks, Azerane. I really appreciate you taking a look. I’m rather concerned, as you can imagine.

I’ve been trying to find out why her teeth are so yellow, too. Depending on the source, some say yellow teeth signal a problem. Others say teeth should never be white, as it shows the diet is lacking. Pudge has subsisted on Orchard Grass for most of her life, only recently have I had success getting her to eat Timothy, and I’ve heard that grasses can make the teeth yellow.

Hmm, I’m really not sure. I wouldn’t expect their teeth to be bright, bright white, more of a creamy white, but none of my buns have ever had teeth that colour, maybe it is diet related. My pair get a fair amount of grass, but I’m not sure why that would yellow the teeth. If she’s fine though otherwise it’s probably just discolouration and not something to be concerned about.
