Hello everyone! Once again, sorry for the long absence. I’m nearing the end of my very first year of being a bunslave. Luke and Harlow have taught me so much and I’ve loved getting to know the buns they are and not the buns I want them to be. Both polar opposites and insist on pushing me to my limits hahaha.
But I’m here to say 2017 will be my last year in Michigan (for the time being) and ask for a little help. In Jan 2018 I’ll be leaving my small town in Michigan and moving across the country to San Diego California. This gives me a year to plan, prep, learn, and prepare my bunnies for such a big move. I’m extremely nervous because I know how stressful traveling is for them. At this time, it doesn’t look like driving will be an option. My friend is flying to Michigan to meet my family and we’re going back to California together.

I’m the only bunny lover in my family so 100% of their care and necessities come from me so leaving them at home is also not an option. And I refuse to rehome them because not only are they my babies, Harlow is a look don’t touch bunny and gets aggressive if handled and Luke is such a lover but he’s been home to home to home and I couldn’t do that to him again. They have such a strong bond, I don’t want them to be separated.

Does anyone on here Have any experience with a cross country move? It’s a 7 hour flight including one hour long stop, and that’s long for me let alone my bunnies. I really hope some of you can give me tips on how to go about this the easiest, stress free way.

I’ll need to deal with this at some point as well, which I’m definitely not looking forward to!  I’m gonna have to keep up with this post to see if anyone has better answers.

Most airlines probably won’t let you have your buns with you, but I would still call and double-check to see if they can be in small cat carrier on your lap during the flight.  I would be terrified leaving them in the area pets typically go on a plane without someone watching over them.

I think, though, the only thing you can do for them is ensure the carrier they’ll be in will have enough food and water for the flight.  Attach an extra large water bottle to the carrier, give them tons of hay and pellets, leave extra treats in there, etc etc.

          Good luck:/

Thank you for the response SeeShmemilyPlay. I was hoping someone on here had experience with this! I have a year to prepare so it’s not an immediate worry, but i’ve been thinking about it a lot. i’m more worried about Harlow than Luke because i know my buns and she would be the most stressed out. I’m terrified of picking up their carrier when the trip is finally over and finding out they passed along the way because of stress.
