Very upset right now I am hoping it isn’t anything serious! I was petting my little boy and I was rubbing his back and felt a bump. He let me inspect and I do have pictures. It is not even the size of a pea, but it is red and it looks irritated. Ok a few things going on right now. He is shedding very heavily. There has been a spider problem in the house recently as well. Could this have to do with him shedding? I will be taking him to his vet ASAP but any advice will be GREATLY appreciated. I love him more than anything in this world.

**It is not letting me upload a pic due to file size**

          Hey there,

if you’re using a computer, you can resize the photo in paint to reduce the file size.

You don’t normally get bumps during shedding, however I wouldn’t be able to say what it is. Spider bite is of course a possibility, but he may have just even bumped his back and now it’s a little swollen and irritated in that spot. Is the skin dry and flaky? Or is it just red and swollen?

It doesn’t sound like anything too serious, but a vet visit to determine what it is will certainly be good. Let us know what they say

I got it to upload from my laptop. He won’t let me get more pictures of it now because he is suspicious of me. He just jumped on the laptop LOL. I have been feeling it up more and more and want to say it feels like two bumps very close together, in total about the size of my fingertip (I am a pretty small girl) Appears to be slightly flaky, but not too much. Could this be ringworm? Would ringworm be raised? As long as it is treatable and nothing serious I do not care what it is! He will be taken care of money is not an issue, but I won’t be sleeping tonight because I am very upset, he is my little angel and best friend. More background, shedding lots, due to moisture issue in house we sometimes get a heavy influx of bugs, before I had exterminator come had pretty bad spider/centipede problem for a few days, he is free roam 100% of time so not from cage, house is carpeted, but he gets into pretty much everything. Just any scenarios, answers, so I know what to expect. I did email another vet other than our own we don’t have our email and I didn’t want to wait. I’m hoping I have a response from him first thing in the morning.

It does look rather like a bite. How is your bunny acting otherwise?

It could be a bite. One night be jumped into his box to munch on his hay and he jumped out really scared and first thing I thought was “he got bit.” Going to follow up with vet regardless, because it could be anything. He is acting perfectly normal! If anything in one of his more lovable and funny moods. Bathroom, eating, personality all normal and amazing. Thank you for asking.

Any additional opinions/ideas what this could be would be great!!! Called exterminator again, who is coming again. He did confirm that centipedes, as well as spiders could bite!! I am hoping that this is just a bug bite and nothing serious! Little man is still his normal awesome self. Vet tomorrow at 9:45. Not something he enjoys. Almost and hour ride there and an hour ride home. Not to mention, absolutely hates being handled, but need to get to the bottom of this. I hope it isn’t anything serious!!!!

Hmm, it’s hard to see, but it very well could be a reaction to a bite. Is he in a cage? Or exercise pen?

No he is free roam around my house. We just got back from the vet. She shaved the area. As of now she does think that it is a bite, but it could be a tumor so I have to watch it. PRAYING that it is a bite. I love him more than anything in this world. I really need support right now. So he got a shot of metacam and she gave me a topical cream.

The thing is the spiders/centipedes came out in droves! Not so much this week, the two weeks prior. Larger than what I normally see, and more than I normally see. My house is not dirty LOL. Just had to have an exterminator come. One distinct thing that happened was one night I was laying in living room and he went over to his hay box and he jumped and ran TERRIFIED. First thing that went through my head was that he got bit. He ran around really fast for a few minutes too. He does sometimes do that out of no where, but this time seemed a little different than him just being a little goofy man. I’m really upset, just going to be reaching out to the community for support and healing vibes PLEASE.

                        Sending some {{{vibes}}} for Wubbie!
If a bite, the metacam should help and you may even see it reduce in size.

Thank you jerseygirl. How long will the metacam take to work?

It varies, but I would think you would see improvement within a few days.

Also, I was going to suggest that if you kept him in a cage or pen at night that you could make a “barrier” for the buggies. Diatomaceous earth is non-toxic, for example, but it has to be somewhere they can’t stick their nose to it and inhale it. The fine powder can irritate the lungs.

Thank you for your response!!! Praying that this goes away and that it isn’t a cyst or a tumor. He is 100% cage free. Now that I finally found a good exterminator to come regularly things should be under control.
