I don’t mean that I am going to deliberately feed my bun my Christmas tree, but if she accidentally gets a few needles (with a fir or spruce Christmas tree), will it harm her?  I know pine is okay. And are the branches any worse than the needles?

Spuce is fine, Im not sure about fir. Aren’t they both types of pine?
One thing I would do is ask if the trees have been sprayed with an insecticide, and if so, find out it’s name.

Yes, spruce seems to be on the safe list,

From what I’m reading, some trees may be treated with pesticides as mentioned, or additionally fire stupidant chemicals, or even chemicals to help make them live longer. I would check with the supplier whether the trees are treated and what with before choosing where to buy one or bring one home.
