Hi all! I have two holland lol sisters and one of them always cleans (more like bites,) the other rabbits neck. I just noticed today that there’s like scratches on the spot where was getting bit. I was thinking I should maybe buy one of those bunny harness and put it on so they can’t bite there anymore. The rabbit with the scratches doesn’t seem like she’s in pain at all. So what’s your advice? Thanks

A harness wouldnt stop. How old are they? It sounds like theyre having fights while youre not looking, and if theyre young it could be hormone related

They where born on April 24,2016. Piper, the one that bites, always mounts my other one with the bites pippin also. Why wouldn’t a harness help? Thanks for responding!

They are about 7 months old. They might be having fights but whenever I watch them, Piper, (the biter) always comes over to pippin(the one being bit) and looks like she’s cleaning pippin around her neck where the scratches are. Pippin just stands there though. I thought a harness might help so they can get there. Why wouldn’t a harness help? Thanks so much for the reply!

A harness wouldn’t work because it doesn’t solve the issue, it just temporarily covers it up so to speak. And it may cause stress to the bun wearing it.

Once your buns are fixed, the issue shouldn’t be as bad, although you may need to separate them and try to bond them if they don’t get better after being altered.

I’ve noticed you keep posting the same question about these two female rabbits.

You’ve suggested the harness multiple times as well, and each time you’re informed that it won’t work. Each time you are told they should be separated until they are spayed, as this could progress and get worse, and become very dangerous. If you won’t take the advice provided on this forum, I’d suggest taking them into the vet and getting a professional opinion. Otherwise, you’re allowing this to continue needlessly.

Best case scenario: your rabbits have an over-grooming problem which could lead to irritated, inflamed, or infected skin.
Worst case scenario: hormones will continue to increase and aggression / tension will build up between the two until a fight occurs.
