So on monday my baby Ichigo went in to have his bits off, all went well and of course that night he was sluggish but I saw him sip some water and eat a couple slices of carrot. He peed and pooed. Today I went to the vets for a checkup and he is very very swollen down there. They’ve given me some antibiotics as the vet felt pus inside and I have to give it orally twice a day (which he now hates me for) and to top things off, they’d like me to keep this cone on him when I’m not with him (he’s an outside bun for now) and let me tell you, it was hell on earth getting him in it and he’s so stressed and sad and I’m just so worried. He’s trying to lick his ears and side and getting nowhere and I feel like crying when I see it. The vet wants to see him this coming Monday to see if the antibiotics have worked. I’m just so depressed seeing him like this. Has anyone else gone through this? Any advice? Thankyou x

Sorry to hear your little boy is unwell.

My first bun had to wear a cone for about a week after his neuter because he kept making the area bleed. I know it’s awful and you feel just terrible but just remember it’s for the greater good. What I did for my boy was to take it off for 20 minutes or so, very closely supervised, twice a day so he could wash his ears, etc.
