We all know the classics-Turkey/ham, potatoes, stuffing, etc. But are there any other must-haves?

One thing that we really like is Green bean casserole

We are also having that . My sister makes a yummy sweet potato casserole. My husband’s family always has bakes acorn squash and olives (not together!)

I’m heading to the kitchen soon to make a couple pumpkin rolls for tomorrow. Yum!

As a side note, my ex-husbands grandpa always made a leg of lamb for Thanksgiving. They didn’t have turkey, just lamb. It was still tasty!

I agree! Sweet potato casserole is definitely something that needs to be there. It’s so good!

Ooh yes, green bean casserole! We usually have a couple of pies, pumpkin and apple usually. And cranberry sauce. Since I’m vegetarian, I usually get “Tofurky” (fake turkey made from tofu.)

This is my first Thanksgiving as a vegetarian. No “Tofurkey”, I’m just going to load up on side dishes!

I like corn casserole (with the corn bread mix). I don’t have time to make it this year.

That’s interesting LBJ. Is it like corn bread, but with real corn mixed in with it?

Moxie – you put kernel corn, creamed corn, sour cream, butter, and Jiffy corn bread mix in a glass pan or casserole dish. You have to bake it for almost an hour though. It’s really good. Let me see if I can find a link to a recipe.

This is like it, but I don’t do the cheese.

For me (during Canadian TG) it’s all about the roasted parsnips with butter. lol

We had a Thanksgiving dinner, had a couple friends over. We roasted a turkey leg and some mini roo roasts (they were on sale) along with mashed potato, cranberry sauce etc. Our friends brought apple crumble cheesecake which was amazing. It’s the first Thanksgiving meal I’ve actually prepared or had in Australia
