I adopted a shy German lop rabbit named Luna about 2 months ago to bond with my other bunny Cadbury. Cadbury is a silver marten and is about 9 months old and came from a neglect situation and was never given attention or love or let out of his box or around other rabbits before I brought him home and found Luna to adopt. Luna is 1 year old and very sweet and quiet and shy and very still. Cadbury took about 3 weeks to open up start running around the house and being a happy, busy mischievous little guy who is rarely still. Luna came from a good home but was isolated and never around another rabbit before and was being re-homed as the girl who adopted her first didn’t give her enough time or attention. I am having a hard time making the bond I have with Cadbury already with her no matter how much I try to be still and quiet around her she will come up boop me and run away, she is a very quiet and still and doesn’t run and play like Cadbury. I don’t mind I just worry if she is happy or if she is hesitant to bond with me because Cadbury and I are strongly bonded ( he grooms me and follows me around and lays on me). Is this possibly holding back me and Luna from bonding her seeing me and Cadbury close? Is my presence with Cadbury interfering with their bonding process? Does anyone else have a German lop who has a similar personality? I have read they tend to be a shy quiet breed. I just want to do everything I can to make sure she is happy and we continue to bond. I love her so much but worry if I am not doing what she needs to be happy, her and Cad just have very different personalities. He’s very easy to read and expressive even noisy he likes to honk and grunt and she is very good at hiding her feelings and stays quiet and to reserved but does like to interact with Cad.

Hi there, I have a female Holland Lop and she is very very shy. I also have a male netherland dwarf/lionhead.
She is very shy when I brought her home and didn’t let me pet her alot. The male I rescued came from a abusive house. I also have another pair and them seeing me with the other two doesn’t cause any issues. I would say that she is probably just scared and needs a buddy before she can bond with you. Having a bonded partner may make her come out of shell.
