Hi, I rescued my rabbit almost two years ago but very little is know about her. She lives in the living room and has free run of the house when we are home. We recently changed the flooring from carpet to wood and since then she is constantly weeing on the floor. It is of course frustrating but the main problem is she then lowers her tail into in or just sits in it before I have chance to clean up. This has given her urine scalds on her legs which I am bathing in an antiseptic wash that was prescribed by the vet and applying sudocrem to. She has a litter tray that she will happily sit in but gets out to wee on the floor and I have no idea how to stop this. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!

I would suggest getting a litter box with a grid, that would help to stop her from sitting in her pee in the litter box. Also, have you changed litters recently? If so it might be because she isn’t used to the new litter. If not maybe try getting some rabbit safe spray for the floor, like the spray for puppies to stop them from peeing? Just make sure it’s rabbit safe ingredients! Hope I helped you out!

Shes likely peeing on the floor because its new and she needs to make it smell like her in order to feel ‘at home’. Many rabbits dont like wood floors because they are slippery and very hard to walk and keep balance on. Its very likely she isnt purposely sitting in her urine, but rather sliding into it trying to keep balance. A large rug should help her out a ton

Thank you for your replies guys. Back to the vets this morning because I’ve woken up to a very red, bald tail. The guilt I feel is unbelievable.

UPDATE: Sadly my baby was put to sleep this morning, I am absolutely devastated.
