So how terrible is it for my bun to eat potato chips? She is completely obsessed with BBQ chips she sits on my shoulder on the couch while I’m trying to eat them and tries to steal them out of my hand. After I’ve finished them she tries to steal my dish to lick it clean. She really doesn’t beg for food but this is obnoxious. Will it hurt if she steals a bit?

Sampras started that when he was young, at first it was one thing..then another, and now I cant eat in the room with him if I’m not going to give him something. My girl on the other hand will never look for food off my plate(Sampras however would steal it out of my mouth)

I really suggest having an alternative treat to give her, whenever you have them for yourself.

Potatoes are bad for bunnies..processed ones even more so! Their tummies arent equipped to handle that amount of sodium and additives and even small amounts could cause problems(to give you an idea-Sampras once ate half a shredded wheat and had a tummy problem for about a fortnight after because it threw his gut flora -now he’s like a worst case scenario rabbit) BUT keep in mind, they aren’t even good for us!

Not to mention greedy guts buns can hurt their mouths on sharp things.(I know they arent ‘sharp’ but ever bite one awkwardly and it literally stabs you?)

I figured they were quite bad for her. I don’t have them very often, but I’ve never seen her act so crazy for something. My plan is to not let her have any but she’s sneaky, lol ?

I’ll be trying to give her greens when I have an evening snack to help curb the behavior

Go hide in the bathroom and eat your chips….. I know how hard it is to try to eat a snack with a bunny around! My little Bridge Bunny Olivia was a little salty tooth and would always try to steal my chips and popcorn.

Obviously, chips are junk food that shouldn’t be fed to your bun, at least on a regular basis.
Most type of chips are highly processed. Think of all the additional oils and fats as well as artificial ingredient that go in to your chips. It’s a health hazard for pets, and the high sodium levels of could even contribute to doggie dehydration.

Some bunny’s have a tough tummy and sadly some don’t – super SAD face!  My bunny lost his cousin recently (not a bunny blood relation, just a human family relationship – that still makes him FAMILY!) and we are still not sure WHY? She looked after him super well (organic!) and he still left us. But my PIG bunny has never even been unwell for all the crap he has eaten. Go figure?

The truth is – some bunny’s can tolerate some foods BUT a lot CAN’T! For everything my bunny eats and will mortify you, I still worry and am lucky my vet is only a short drive away and available to me 24/7!

I never ever worry about my bunny. But when I read BB, I worry about everyone else’s….

Haha yes, that’s so true ! I have 2 big buns that seem to (touch wood) have solid tums and everytime I log on to BB and see someone with a GI prob, I do say to myself how lucky I am.

This is such a serious issue – it really is!
I feel awful admitting that my bunny eats crap and is ok.
I had a friend posting a video to me of a bunny diving in and eating from a ‘popcorn’ bowl, and we joked that he looked like our bunny.
And it was funny – for those bunny’s that can tolerate it – again a lot CAN’T!

Please keep in mind a lot will have a tummy ache – and no one likes a tummy ache. It may look and seem cute cute at the time feeding a bunny crap, but a tummy ache can be horribly cruel (painful) and can lead to death in a bunny.

When I have a tummy ache I wish whatever I ate, I didn’t! It’s just AWFUL! But remember a bunny can die from it… sad face!

Just to be clear I am not intentionally giving her chips. She goes crazy over only BBQ chips and will try to steel the plastic dish I put them in. She’s only gotten crumbs but I was still concerned.

She gets plenty of goodies from me and lots of greens, but the silly girl seems to think she NEEDS BBQ potato chips. It’s one of her silly things I guess

Jessica, my Bam has the same view on peanuts. He NEEDS them. He jumps up and steals them out of my hands if he gets the chance.

It’s too rich for a bunny though, so he can only ever have like a quarter of a peanut. I keep a jar of his favorite pellets on the coffee table, so I can give him sth healthier when he comes begging. (He really loves pellets too). I also have Oxbow simple rewards for him that he can have 2 of per day, so when I snack on something yummy, Bam gets something too
