Do you have nicknames for your bunnies ? Or any other animals in your life? My bunnies are called Peanut and Buttercup but they have an array of nicknames between them. The most common ones though; for Peanut is Destructo-bunny as he likes to dig and scratch at things – thankfully it’s usually appropriate rabbit-y things although he tried digging up the carpet earlier Buttercup’s nickname is Monkey because she is a very cheeky bunny.
My Mum’s German Shepherds also have nicknames – Nala is Nala Bear and Violet’s nickname is Crazy Bear
Yep!! Winter is Winnie, Win, Wint, and things like that.
Licorice is Lickie (Lic-e?? Dunno how to spell that), Hoppers (as named by my cousin and his brother – they’re in love with him!), and Thumper. Licorice thumps when he’s happy, not when he’s scared. It’s odd.
I call Reese: Bunbers, Boppy, Boppers, Stinker, Reesie piece-ie, booper, etc. I babysat my aunt’s rabbit Buttercup, and the whole time we were watching him we called him “Buttsie” because he was not fixed and was territorial and mean.
I very rarely call my buns by their real names. I have lots of nicknames that change and evolve. They are often very strange and my husband thinks I’m insane. Bindi’s probably had like a 100 in the 9 years or so I’ve had him.
Current, nicknames:
Bindi Loo- Fluffy, Fwuffs, Fluffems, BooBoo Bear,
Sterling- Big Boy, Handsome, Terling, Terly
Haha, oh yes. We have lots of nicknames at our house.
Luna: Luna-bun, Luna-bug, Loo-Loo, Greedy Guts, Gobble Guts, Yoda, Sweetheart, Miss Destructobun, and “hey don’t chew that”
Apollo: Mr bun bun, Snuggle bun, Cuddle butt, Baby boy, Fluffykins, Fuzz butt and probably some others I’m forgetting.
Dory: Miss Squawkerton, Devil Bird, Dory Pory, Dor-Dor-Dor (it’s a sound she makes), Squeaker.
I’m probably forgetting a lot
Yes, and same as LPT said, it often evolves.
Mostly it’s terms of endearment for all of them, or “Hey, Brat!”.
But some that have stuck are:
Rumball – BumBum or RumBum
Potamus – Mishy Moosh
TimTim – Timbu or Tikki-Timbu
Gooseman – Goosey
I haven’t really got a specific one for Ailís. I normally just say Darling or Missy.
Sampras was originally named Mr. Bojangles, but the name Pete was given to him as a house joke and it turned out it stuck, so he became Pete Sampras the Tennis player…and now we just call him Sampras or Samp.
Yumi was named Mini when I got her-but that’s my dogs name, so we changed her to Mellon (elvish for ‘friend’) but she kept getting called Melonhead (mostly by me if I’m honset-I still call her it) which prompted me to change her name to something less harsh, making her Yumigami (lord of the Bow-in reference to Sampras’ original name)
But her name is just shortened to Yumi (meaning beautiful and friend) and then I just call her Yu (friend) or yum(sounds like room but with a Y)
And my dog is called mini, but Ive always called her Mouse(Cause she’s like a little mouse)
She will only respond to the name Mouse if it’s me calling her by it. Everyone else has to use her proper name (obviously she just thinks Im the special human!)
My late hedgehogs real name was McNipNip but we all just called her Ditto!
And then my rooster is named Sir Buzzkillington the Third, shortened to Buzz.
Actually I could probably keep doing this until Christmas the amount of bizarre names getting shortened and forgotten resulting in permanent changes that have happened in my house….
There are some brilliant nicknames here haha! My two also get referred to together as my little munchkins, little rascals, monsters, my little terrors, my sweet buns, baby buns, sweetie pies, bunny beans, baby beans, cute beans, cheeky beans, naughty buns. And any variation of those lol.
Our animals all have nicknames, although they’re mostly derivatives of their names.
Jack(cat) Captain Soggy Paws, The Universe
Dinah (cat) – Kitten Little, D, Sweet Petite with Freaky Feet (she has extra toes on all four paws lol)
Luca (cat) – Lulu, Sexy Beast
Jojo (cat) – Bitcoin, Bargain Demon. Sh*t for Brains (my husband calls him that lol)
Elvis (Hamster) – Elvie. Hamham, hammykins
Bruno and Harley(buns) Brubru and Barbara
Caesar and Roxie (buns) Cease(seez) and Roxie
Butternut and Backers (buns)- Buttetbutt, Nutters/Butters, Big Orange and Beautiful, Backerbun, B bunny
Hazel (bun) – Hazel Foo, Hazel
Annie (bun)- Anners, Annabelle(her real name is Ansil)
Zane (bun) Zaneybutt
Note: After I posted this, I realized it changed HarHar to Barbara. Lol!! We’re cracking up. Barbara may be his new nickname lol!
Also, we call Hazel Hazey.
I call Chomondeley a bunch of nicknames- Chom, Chom-nom-nom, Chommy, Chommy-bun, Floppy, Floppy-lop, bun, floppy lopster, lopster, etc., etc.
Bam has a 1000 names. Bambambambam, Bamulah, the Bamster and many, many more.
Theodore gets mainly Theo, Mr Theo or theodorus/theodorusrex. Quite often these days he gets greeted as grumpy bum or demon bunny haha! We’ll not go into that though lol. He gets ‘wee man’ a lot too (wee is the ultimate term of endearment in Ireland )

Barbara I hope for his sake that name doesn’t stick! Poor little fella haha!
Olly gets called Oliver if he’s doing something he shouldn’t, but I do call him, Baby, Binky, Bunbun, Mr. Oliver, bigfoot, I also call him Mummy’s boy.

Ha! Me and my partner always call each other by pet names, in fact it’s weird when he calls me Sarah
I have just started calling Buttercup my little Butter Bean
Lol, you know that stuff’s about to go down when your mother or your spouse start to use full names or…your middle name..Hide!
I’ve had two bunnies in my life and they always had a name – Toasty and Pippins – but I always just end up calling them Bun Bun =)
My lop’s name is Eleanora but I always call her Eliie-Belly or just Ellie. Her name is inspired from a great Beatles song called Eleanor Rigby.
Theodore is usually called Theo, and I always end up calling both Eve and Theo “Lil Bab,” “Lil Baby Bunny,” or just “Lil Bun”
Poor Chester gets called “fllufy butt” a lot. He sheds from his bum, it’s not my fault… he also gets called “grumpy” and of course “bunny” and “bunbun”.
Aw how sweet!! Fluffy butt has forever been my small dog’s nickname for the same reason
New ones for Luna the past couple of days:
Luna Boona, which I’m trying to stop myself from saying, but it’s hard because it rhymes.
Lunasaur. Love this one Mostly appropriate at meal times.
oh yes. charlie is always called “char char”, “char”, “char baby” or the most embarrassing one “mamas baby” – not sure how that happened but it just came out and is probably my most used nickname for him.
I began by nicknaming Patton “The General” but that wasn’t short enough I guess so I usually call him “Big Guy” or “Big Stuff”. He’s a French Lop after all
If you ask Cinder, she’ll probably tell you her nickname is “Damnit.” As in, “Damnit, stop digging at my door, please. Damnit, can’t you make that mess INSIDE your new XPen?”
Wouldn’t trade her for the world.
That reminds me of an old Bill Cosby routine.
Peanut is now known as my little pinto bean
I call Buffy “the Buffster”, “Scruffy Buffy”, “Buff Stuff”, and “Buffy Bunners” (because she’s named after Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Sometimes when, she, uh, marks her territory… I call her “pissy missy”. With love, of course!
Hubby’s newest nicknames for the buns…
A-Bomb and L-Dog
Lol, Azerane that’s so cheesy
Oh trust me, I know Fortunately I don’t think they’ll stick long and he’ll come up with something else, haha.
I know what you’re referring to, and you’re definitely right. I think I’ve seen the bit and there might be a coincidental reference to that, haha. Maybe it was off of his Himself stand up, I wonder?
Sterling just earned the name “Sparkle Poops”. Gonna create a new Thread in the Lounge called “Naught or Nice List”. Explanation will be there.
I always use nicknames for my animals. My rabbits name is “Severus”, technically her full name is “Severus Snape” (yes Harry Potter reference). Her nickname is “goober”. My cat’s name is “Cudi” (yes Kid Cudi reference) and I call him “Cudders”. My parents cats also have nicknames, my moms cat’s is “Jena’s cat” and his brother’s nick name is “Fefe” (pronounced saying “e” as the letter E) I don’t know how it came up, maybe something to do with him being cross eyed, lol.
My little guys full name is Newton Fitzgerald so he gets called Newt, Newtie Newt, Mr. Fitz and also Tiny Boy (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia reference)
I just thought of another name that I call Reese and is my favorite: Skittle poops!
I call my bunny, Lilo many names. Many which I cannot recall at this moment here are a few:
-cutie
-bun bun
-sweetie
-devil (my sister plays around calling her that after my bunny chewed up her keyboard)
-“come here!”
-“stop chewing that”
-“aaah, you got out of your cage again!”
-stitch (we call her this when she’s misbehaving)
and many many others!
