There is never a dull moment owning a bunny. Last week I was working in my studio, Amelia was in the living room in an X pen. After a little bit I suddenly feel the double tap of her nose on my foot. I pick her up to take her back to her pen, figuring I hadn’t closed it properly. Everything looked fine so I put her back in, 5 mins later she’s back in my studio with me. Last weekend she stayed with my mom while I was out of town, and as soon as my mom walked out of the room Amelia once again got out of her pen. Turns out little miss smarty pants had figured out how to climb the pen. Does anyone else have an escape artist? I need ideas on how to keep her safe in my sewing studio while I’m working. It’s a 500sq foot room and I don’t think I can bunny proof it and still be able to work

Is she climbing it – or getting under it?

My mom and I have both watched her climb it

How big is the space? Would it be practical to find some sort of lid?

My bun figured that out pretty quickly and of course while we had gone to the store because “theres no way he can jump that”

we don’t use the xpen anymore but when we did we used a fish pond net over the top. we secured one side with zip ties and the other with clips so we could pull it back to open the top up. Just make sure you get one with the small holes so if she were to try again she wouldn’t be able to get her head through and get stuck. the one we found was perfect- he still got light but he could see it and knew there was something there and I’m pretty sure he never tried to jump out again (unless mom and dad left the net off)

we found it pretty cheap on amazon

oh and of course you can always drape a sheet over the top but we wanted him to have light

Would a net cover stop the escapee?

Or some thin material held down with clothes pegs?

I will look into some kind of net top to try. I suspect she will figure something out, she’s quite the problem solver. All she ever wants is to be by me, she will do anything to try to keep me close. She’s been laying at my feet sleeping for the past hour but I know she’s gonna have a fit when I go to put her in her crate for the night. It’s not that she doesn’t like it, she sleeps in there great as long as the door is open, she just hates the closed door. I’m hoping that some of this is terrible twos behaviors and the starts of hormones (13 weeks). Three weeks and a day till she’s getting spayed
