Amelia has become rather vocal over the past week or so. I’m pretty sure she is just grunting and not growling. It started two weeks ago while we were in Baltimore and she had to be confined more then she likes and she would “grunt” at me to let her out when I got back to the hotel. She also makes the same noice at my dog. It does not appear to be aggressive at all, it’s usually after she was grooming him and wants him to chase her, or chase him. Or she grunts when he approached her before she starts grooming him. She also “grunts” at me first thing in the morning when I met her out of her cage. Again there is no aggression, just excited it’s morning and to see me and to get pets.

Is this something I should be concerned about? Is this the starts of territorial behaviors that could lead to aggression? She is 12.5 weeks now and has her appointment to be spayed in 3.5 weeks. Or is she just a chatty bunny?

Sounds like a grunty bunny. Guinivere was also grunty around that age. Probably up till 8 months, and then she started to quieten down. I chalked it up to her telling me what she wanted, learnign that I responded to her grunts, so she kept grunting. Eventually she just started to stop grunting. Can’t think of anythign that caused it – maybe me bringing her inside where she got tons more attention without having to grunt? I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s just another cute aspect of your bunny. Sometimes, Guin still grunts hello in the mornings, but mostly just rushes up to me and steps on my feet 🙂

            Awe she sounds adorable!

I figured she was just talking, but wanted a few other opinions. She’s also quickly approaching the moody teen phase, so who knows.
