So my husband texted me while I was at work and said that thumper bit him once on each love handle while he was
Sitting on the floor. I feel like maybe because she needs to be spayed and now that she’s a hi rl and not a Boy, maybe she’s moodier/sexually frustrated.
My husband gets mad easily when it comes to biting, and will want to get rid of her. What if I spay her and it doesn’t fix the problem and then I spent
The money for no reason? She was so good and then she had to go bite again? I’m frustrated because I was told it was a boy, and now it’s a girl which means more aggressive behavior and more expensive surgery. What would you recommend me to do. So frustrated right now. I wish I did my research and adopted a bunny that was a better fit for my family

Spaying would likely fix the problem. Before being spayed, the vet lovingly would refer to Guinness as the “*****y bunny” since while she was a cuddle bun and adorable, hormones also made her a budding territorial monster. Post-spaying, Guinness, nips once in a blue moon (usually because we’re in her way or she wants attention) but she’s very friendly otherwise and has never done a full on bite (and our male bun’s only nipped me once since his neuter). Spaying went a long ways towards this, since spaying tones down aggression and territoriality, but we also have trained her to deter from nipping.

Ok, this makes me feel better, she’s so sweet but then will randomly bite someone while they are sitting in the floor with her. She doesn’t bite when I clean out her cage /get her food. So she hasn’t been territorial with her cage YET. Yesterday she was biting and humping her stuffed animal like crazy. She must be hormonal, just so random and unprovoked. My husband said he was sitting on the floor minding his business and she came up behind him and bit him
Maybe I’m over reacting, this is my first pet and it’s so new to me.

If she didnt break skin, it was a nip which bunnies use to communicate She likely wanted his attention and felt ignored that he wasnt giving it to her

Perhaps your husband would feel better if he knew bunnies often nip for love??

Also, spaying would not be for no reason. It will almost certainly give her a much longer life.

So My husband said he was on the floor sitting with his back against the couch but she had room to go behind his back between him in the couch. So I guess she was going around him a couple of times and then got him from behind. I think she was circling him a little, I told him that either she felt you were in the way or she wanted to have sex with you ??? I was worried he was going to be angry, but he seemed ok this morning. I need to get more quotes and book her spay ASAP. Lol

He also said he was talking on the phone when she did it. He said it hurt and it left a mark. Not sure if it broke skin though , maybe just a pinch mark, but it hurt lol

Zou has calmed down a thousand fold since she was spayed in June !

                        It will make things better.

Not immediately though, so don’t get downhearted if she doesn’t change for a bit afterwards.

Henry nipped my thigh the other day through my jeans when I was kneeling down.
It had no agression to it, just passing by and “NIP is that tasty? Beurk, no it’s not so I’ll move on” !

I said ‘ow !!’ and he hasn’t done it since, but he was neuteured recently too, so it’s all hormones going up and down….

I took her out this morning and she was binkying and doing bunny 500s and laying down for snuggles and cuddles with my kids, so who knows maybe she was doing a love dance or trying to get his attention but maybe she wanted him to move. I don’t think it is was an aggressive type bite. I just can’t stay mad at her! Lol. And I’m still wondering if she is in fact a girl! The pet store said boy , the vet said a girl , but I still have doubts , so she’s going to another vet appointment next week , so I’m going to have them check and see what they say

LOL. You still have doubts.???…. Is “she” drinking beers, burping and scratching her bum… ??

It’s always good to check and be sure but I would put money on the vet now rather than the pet store boy a few weeks ago…..
