I had a brown rabbit that would act just like the rabbit in the video. But he lived free range (in the daytime) in a large garden and instead of carrying a box around, he’d carry a fallen leaf from a breadfruit tree which is huge. He too couldn’t see ahead and ran in circles sometimes. For years even after he’s passed on, I’ve wondered why he liked to carry a giant leaf around which is almost everyday until he got old, and if this is common behaviour, hope someone from a rabbit forum can solve this mystery

I miss that rabbit. He was the only rabbit I had that would greet us at the doorstep when we came home no matter where he was in the garden, and would chase the neighbour’s cats if the they came down into the garden, so the cats would hang out on the fence watching him, and he’d do rabbit stuff in the garden.

LOL omg that is hysterical! So cute…I have no idea why they do this, maybe they just like to try to balance things for fun xD

It never came across to me that this behavior is because he wants to balance things while running – that does sound like a rabbit’s idea of fun! Balancing things and throwing things around… rabbits are so funny. I was worried back then as I thought him obsessively carrying the leaf around is because he wanted to make a nest and a mate (he’s a lone rabbit).

              That video is cute.
It must have been funny to see your rabbit hopping around with his big leaf also. Maybe he didn’t want to put his prize down, so he just hopped blindly? Very entertaining!
