Oreo has been at the vet for the past 5 days due to an inner ear infection. They gave him injections and after the fourth day they didn’t see any change. they told us to wait a couple more days and when we called today the vet was very unhelpful and told us we could bring him home for a few days and “see how it goes”. we just got back from the vet and he’s got the standard head tilt and cannot keep his balance. He falls on his side and flailes and it’s hard for him to get back up. He is about 8 years old and we aren’t sure what we shoulld do. Opinions please! He was eating and drinking on the fifth day at the vet, making them a little dumbfounded. do we put him down? He’s been home for about an hour now. please help. I apologize for the illiteracy, I am just panicking right because i love that rabbit more than anything. I’m located in New Hampshire, can we get someone to do a house call For having him put down? I’m at a loss.

OK. Is bunny eating and drinking now?

Is the vet a specialist in bunny care?

As CA says, is he eating and drinking? Has he been treated for e cuniculi with Panacur as well as with antibiotics?

Head tilt looks really bad, but if the bunny is eating, it’s unlikely that he’s experiencing nausea. What I mean is, it’s not certain that he feels as miserable as he looks.

Do you have pain meds for him?

I moved your post to the Q&A-section, you’ll get more answers here.

                Yes, how is your rabbit?

I had a rabbit who developed head tilt and had lost her balance and was rolling. Fortunately she did come good after treatment but it took some time. Are you wanting more advice about perhaps attempting to treat your rabbit or are you concerned about his age?

For euthanising a pet at home, I think it is a matter of just searching local listings for vets that offer this. You would not need a exotic vet for this.

However, if looking for a second opinion for your rabbits condition, a vet with a lot of experience with rabbits would be best.
