Hi everyone, I have a year old lion head, she hasn’t eaten or had anything to drink on her own. She hasnt produced much poop in the last 24 hours, I have counted only a total of 10 poops. We took her to the vet… They gave her subq fluids, Metoclopramide and I have given her acidopholus, metacam, force fed her critical care but still no change. She still seems a little alert, but hasn’t moved much in the past four hours, actually she hasn’t moved much in the past 24 hours. I am wondering if anyone had gone through this with their bun, with no output and if anyone here thinks that she has a chance. I am thinking that she might not last throughout the night and it really hurts… Does anyone have advice or encouraging stories for me???

Im sorry to hear your rabbit is unwell. Sending many {{{vibes}}} her way. You’ve done the right thing seeking vet treatment. Hopefully you will start to see the effects of that soon. Are you still offering things like herbs to see if she’ll eat on her own?
How is her temperature? Do her ears feel much cooler then normal?

She seemed to be doing much better when we first got her home from the vet, which wwas more than 14 hours ago. She is not interested in any of the food that we have offered. Her belly feels so full, and really bloated. Her ears feel pretty warn, I have covered her with a blanket

Baby gas drops called Simethicone should help out a lot. Im not sure on the dosage, but i think it gives a chart on the bottle. Youll have to force feed her critical care and water; if you dont have critical care, you can use pellet mash which is pellets soaked in water with more water added to make it mostly a liquid over a paste. Youll have to force feed and force water her every 4 hours

Call your vet again, I think you need to take her back in.

Thanks, I took her back in late last night , they suggested surgery and for her to stay overnight for surgery in the morning and unfortunately she didn’t make it through the night. I’m a wreck, she is so young. She had bloat, I have to bring her body back for our boy so he can grieve.

Oh Im so sorry. Bloat is terribly hard for vets to treat in delicate rabbits.
Binky Free Little One. I hope your other rabbit will be okay and bring some comfort to you. xx

So very sorry, I went through this myself very recently with my boy who was only just over 1 year old so I know how you are feeling. Try not to blame yourself, you did the best you could.

My boy (the one in my profile pic) didn’t even have any treatment as he died of shock when we got to the vets on the first visit (an hour after first symptoms were found)

I am very sorry. True bloat is a much dreaded condition in a rabbit. There was nothing else you could’ve done. It’s very hard to loose a rabbit young, it feels so extra wrong and unfair.
