My Bun always chins any food I offer her and then leaves it for a few hours before eating it. Is this just her way of saying “yes, this is my food, I don’t want it right now but I’ll eat it later”??

Not a serious question or anything. Just curious

It could be One of my bunnies chins everything. If youve pet one of the other bunnies then let him smell your hand, he will chin your hand before you are allowed to pet him. Chinning is so cute lol

It is strange that she doesn’t eat it straight away, but I can definitely see her chinning it because a great way to lay claim on it until she gets back to it How cute!

I guess chinning is like writing your name on a Solo cup at a party!

BTW- not every rabbit has a bib under their chin. For example, Patton doesn’t and I don’t see him chinning anything. Does that mean bunnies without bibs don’t chin?

                @ Barret
By ‘bib’ do you mean extra fluff under their neck/on their chest? My Bluey has a very puffed out chest/neck and he chin marks more than my other two. My other two still chin mark often though, but they both mostly just chin mark toys and sides of litter boxes

Kimberley, doesn’t she ever eat anything straight away? Not even a treat?

Bam chins food that he doesn’t want right away. But really yummy stuff he devours there and then. His weight control pellets (they’re 4 inches long) get chinned. “I don’t want it, but it’s mine.”

                  Chinning really is cute.

The only thing she will eat immediately is sage, but even then she quickly chins it before eating it. Everything else gets chinned and left for later, no matter how yummy. She’s very stubborn and does things exactly when she wants to

Most of the time, Storm will chin his pellet bowl when I give him his nightly pellets and come back and eat them later, the only thing he eats when he first sees it are treats and hay

My little Bridge Bunny, Olivia, used to chin food that I offered but she didn’t want to eat. I particularly remember her always chinning any berries offered. “I don’t want it, but no one else can have it either.”
