Just figured out that the closest vet (that has rabbit care) to me is 52 minutes away. That makes me really worried about what would happen in emergency situations. But I know if I schedule an appointment as soon as a spot a problem, my bunny will be safe.

I don’t have my bunny yet I just done research on vets so when I do get a bunny, if there is an emergency situation, I’ll know where to go. It’s better to be prepared when a rabbit has a problem.

        —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

        Story time!

How close is your rabbit vet? Be sure to tell some vet stories! I’d be interested to know more.

(Please don’t tell graphic stories, keep it light. Don’t give out any personal information. Don’t give medical advice unless you’re a professional, and go to a vet right away if you suspect something is seriously wrong with your bunny.)

        ~Carly

(P.S. I’m a newbie to bunny care, if you have any advice, please share! )

My vets office is about 20 minutes drive during good traffic hours, and up to 45 minutes drive during bad traffic hours. Our nearest “emergency vet for rabbits” is over 2 hours away and only puts rabbits down  The closest 24 hour vet that has a rabbit vet is over 4 hours away

Thankfully, the only emergency ive had with one of my rabbits (he was choking and could not breathe over the course of 25 or so minutes, at 3am in the morning when my vets office is closed), the wonderful people on BinkyBunny helped keep me calm and gae advice on tutorials on how t stabilize my rabbit so he could go to his normal vet the next day I know there are some emergencies that no one on BinkyBunny will be able to help with, but this place will always be the first place i go to when my vets office is closed

Wow! I’m so sorry about your bunny’s choking, glad he’s okay! And what I meant by professionals only giving advice, I mean like specific advice that only professionals really should answer. I’m glad that the members of BinkyBunny made you feel safe! I haven’t checked how far away the emergency vet is, hopefully it’s not that far away! Wish me luck!

I do wish you luck! I was shocked when i saw that our “emergency rabbit vet” would only put down rabbits. If i had to make the 4 hour run to the 24 hour vet, i would without question

Yep, thanks to the members here i learned how to do the bunny Heimlich and restabalize a bunny going in and out of consciousness Also thanks to the members here, i learned what over.the.counter meds are safe for rabbits when my same bunny decided to start a fight with our other bunnies and lost some toe skin in the process The vet said we did everything right, and didnt even have to go back for an infection check up when the antibiotics ran out. This community is very helpful thanks to its open and caring users

Closest emergency vet is 3 hours and 46 minutes away, but hopefully I won’t have any dire emergencies. I’ll be crossing my fingers!

My every day vets is 1.9 miles away, they are very good with buns but I have used another surgery suggested by RWAF for a second opinion on a few occasions. My Bunny savvy emergency situation vet suggested by RWAF is 32.8 Miles away (In my home town of Lancaster)
