I’ve had my rabbit reggie for around 3 years. I live in a studio apartment and he has a cage in the room that he gets out of every night during the weekdays and days as well during the weekends. His behavior has changed during the last few days. Usually when he gets out he runs like a madman, investigates the room, then settles down. I usually approach him to give affection after he settles down. Lately he gets out of his cage and immediately runs to me for pets and love. When I stop petting he goes to my boufrie d for affection. He comes when called (which he did very selectively before) and hops onto the couch to get pet (never did before). He’s fixed so it’s not hormones. Why is he suddenly so affectionate/needy?

I know it’s weird to have complaints for a good behavior but my problem is with the sudden change in behavior vs the behavior itself.

He may just be becoming more comfortable with me, he’s been more and more affectionate since I rescued him from he humane society (I suspect not rabbit savy previous owners), but nothing before has been this dramatic

Does anyone else have experience with this/ know what’s going on?

I have no idea but am also curious if anyone has an answer-my rabbit Roxi did this recently too.
Maybe it’s the weather? Maybe they have finally realized we aren’t going to eat them? LOL

            My Zou too recently!!!
But I put it down to 1) her being 4 months post spay (hormnoes settled) or 2) the arrival of Henry in a cage in HER kitchen
            Or 1)+2).

And Bam. Exactly the same! He’s never been a couch-cuddler before. He’s like a perfect lap-dog now, only cuddlier. I thought it was because Yohio is gone so he’s either feeling lonely or more at ease (Yohio was a bully). But now this seems like sth bigger, a transatlantic phenomenon. A pandemic cuddliness spreading through the bun-populations everywhere.

I hope that pandemic cuddliness is super contagious because Luna is definitely not a couch nor lap cuddler – but at least she loves petting.

When I said Zou has become cuddlier…. I have to be laying flat on floor for this to happen… so it’s not exactly my idea of cuddle time…. but it is hers,.. so she wins !!
