So my girls seem to have come to the conclusion
That the recent brand of hay I bought them was not good enough.
They pick at it a little bit but nothing like how they ate the other brand I had previously.
Anyone else have buns that do this?

Some buns prefer a certain cutting of hay – first, second, or third cutting. A brand that usually has a first cutting of hay, may differ from another brand that usually has a second cutting of hay. If your bun is used to the soft third cutting, then it may be picky when you try to give her the harder first cutting.

More on this, because I also have a fussy bun, bunnies tend to prefer 2nd or 3rd cut hay but 3rd cut hay is not as nutritious as 1st or 2nd cut. I got both 1st and 2nd cut for my bun, and she eats a bit of the 1st cut but prefers 2nd cut the most. She likes a particular brand too – Small Pet Select. I have tried Oxbow with her, but she won’t touch it anymore after having Small Pet Select!

You can also try some “treat hays” with your bunny like Oat Hay (Dorothy LOVES it), Botanical Hay, and Orchard Grass (Dorothy oddly won’t touch Orchard Grass, but a lot of bunnies like it). Also, when you buy them in the bags, make sure you’re getting a lot of green pieces in there.

My rabbits also prefer 2nd cut!
