Insane OCD scrabbling 24/7!

Ok, I know there have been lots of posts about this and I swear I have gone through them with a fine-toothed comb, but I’m posting on the off chance that somebody might have some new idea that worked for them.

My female bun, Mars (spayed at 4 months, now 10 months old) is scrabbling at everything at all hours with OCD level insanity.
– my pillows on my bed
– the window (my condo has floor to ceiling windows)
– the frosted glass bedroom door
– the carpet where it meets the walls, especially in corners

This is not really a problem in terms of damage. She has not scratched the glass window or door. While digging, she has chewed my pillow a bit but only if I forget to cover the pillow with my blanket (for whatever reason, she is not interested in digging at the pillow when the blanket is over it). She does chew the carpet a lot but she doesn’t actually eat the fibers and I got it specifically as scrap carpet for traction for the bunnies and to protect the floor, so I don’t care about damage to the carpet.

So the problem is not damage. Rather, its the incessant, aggravating NOISE. She is so unbelievably loud while scrabbling! The pillows aren’t bad. But the carpet, when I’m trying to sleep. And especially the glass, at any time of day or night because its like nails on a chalkboard to me. Here are the solutions I have tried so far:

– I’ve thrown a heavy tile down on the corners of the carpet, which she then loves to pee on and she just moves to a new digging spot
– I’ve given her her own pillow, but she is rarely interested. I swear she specifically WANTS to make noise.
– Tons of toys, but they’re only for chewing, not digging
– Keeping her nails trimmed makes no difference
– A homemade dig box, which she showed interest in chewing not digging and is just as noisy

Short of locking her up – which I’d rather not do and besides, she’d rattle the bars all night anyway – or literally covering the entire perimeter of the carpeted room with tiles (which she’ll pee on) and padding the approx 10′ length of glass window and door with something, I don’t know what’s left to do. I’ve resigned myself to it so far and tried wearing earplugs to sleep. Just hoping someone might have some other idea that worked for them.

I should add that the dig box sort of worked. While she was more interested in chewing than digging, it did keep her attention for about a week.

Then it seemed to lose its novelty for her. But the carpet and glass never gets boring to her.

It was still noisy but somewhat less irritating than the glass and carpet sounds.

It was a temporary cardboard dig box to see if she liked it and eventually I had to get rid of it. I intend to make a more permanent one out of a Tupperware container. But like I said, it doesn’t entirely solve the problem and she gets bored of it.
