Hi everyone! I’m Brandi, and I’m a fairly new bun mom. I once had rabbits when I was small who were kept outside and mostly cared for by my parents, so I never truly got to experience what it was like to have a bunny that could grow to its’ fullest potential as a companion. I stalked this forum for months in anticipation of getting my very own loaf of cuteness, and it has been very helpful! The atmosphere of the community seemed very welcoming and constructive as well.

This is Paprika! She is a purebred “mini plush lop”, and was born on 07/13/2016. I’m not exactly sure when I should give up hope on her ears lopping, all of her siblings seem to already have dropped ears! Sometimes they airplane, but more often than not they are up and alert. Honestly, when she was first settling in, she seemed to hold them at a slight lop/airplane more often than she does now (the first 2 pics are more recent). I’m not sure if it has to do with her ear control, or her crown. I am clinging to hope!!  In the time she’s been with me, I’ve learned just how affectionate rabbits can actually be. She smothers me in kisses, lays on my lap on her own accord, is always under my feet, and lets me handle her most days without any fuss whatsoever. She is FULL of energy, binkying and doing bunny 500s almost constantly, when she’s not flopping over from too much playing that is! However, she does have a slightly mischievous side and has developed some different habits that I’ll save for a different post. I am a part time student and work few hours myself, so I am fortunate enough that I get to spend good amounts of time with her.

I absolutely adore her, and my partner and I hope to get another bunny sometime next year, eventually attempting to bond them. I’m hooked!

Welcome Welcome! So glad you have finally joined BB, it is truly a lovely community.
Paprika is precious and looks so soft. I want to hug her!
I had a bunny that lopped at 6 months. If she is a purebred, I would think that her ears would have to lop, though I don’t know much about that kind of thing.
          Aren’t bunnies lovely?

Hi! Love the half up vs half down ear pic . It’s like Paprika can’t make up her mind – “I’m a lop, I’m not a lop, no I’m a lop.”

Paprika looks so curious and intelligent. Beautiful too!

My bridge bun, Manon, had aeroplane ears. Her ears lopped a little more as her face widened with age. Odette lopped young, but her face is still broadening as she ages. Though I loved Manon’s aeroplane/helicopter ears. Either way, Paprika is perfect. Welcome!

Thank you all so much for the warm welcomes and compliments!! Paprika does enjoy getting a bunch of attention. I’m so happy I will be able to talk to people just as obsessed with bunnies as me, plus I get to oogle over all your cuties too! My partner enjoys Paprika’s company, but not quite on the same level of fascination that I have. I can have something in mind I want to do while I let her out, but I end up watching her or trying to take pictures 99% of the time.

LongEaredLions, she is such a fluff ball! The breeder let me feel some of her adult bucks and does that have molted before, and I’m hoping she gets just as soft as they were with age. Also, hearing that makes me feel better about her little ears! I had read sometimes that can happen, so I was hoping it wasn’t uncommon. I was told even with purebred, permanent airplane ears are a possibility but rare. Her ears even airplane so little now though which is what concerned me at her age!

Luna, that is so true! I think she may be having an identity crisis. A totally adorable one, nevertheless!

Thank you for the kind words, Vienna Blue and Odette!! Paprika’s personality is so unique to her compared to all of my other animal children; I love her quirks and traits that make her so, her. It’s reassuring to know that their early physical characteristics do not define how they will grow into themselves, but you are right Odette, she will always be perfect to me too!

Big Welcome to you. Paprika is quite possibly the cutest rabbit I’ve ever seen. Mega adorable!

Hi there, welcome. Paprika is just lovely. Her ear carriage is based on the shape of her crown, that will be changing as she grows. It is very unlikely for a purebred not to lop, but perhaps her crown is simply developing in a different way, such as getting longer before it gets broader. Time will tell I suppose. She will be gorgeous either way, and I must admit, I’m more partial to up standing ears than lop ears

I really appreciate how kind and inviting everyone here is! If Paprika ever catches wind that so many other humans think she’s cute too, she will become even more of a diva I’m sure! Thanks you all!!

LittlePuffyTail, possibly the cutest you’ve EVER seen? I’m such a honored bunmom! I look forward to see everyone else’s adorable bunnies too!!

Azerane, that definitely makes sense and gives me some comfort, haha. Her body has gotten a teeny bigger/rounder but her head size or structure hasn’t changed all that much, so I was thinking that as she ages it will finally widen out some, perhaps. I know she is young yet, and I will equally obsess over her either way! I’ve always liked lops but never had one before, just something about those floppy ears… Especially when they run. I also like standing up ears though, honestly, all bunny ears are just adorable!!
