Oatmeal has had a messy bottom for a couple weeks now on and off it seems like. I contacted the person I adopted her from and told me to give her a dry bath. I gave her a dry bath and she still gets herself wet down there.i do see her groom occasionally and has no trouble it seems like. What is causing this? and should I take her to see a vet? she also had e cuniculi I’m not sure if that has to play apart in her wet bottom situation. Thanks!

Is it just urine or is it sticky poop?
E cuniculi can harm the kidneys. If it’s sticky poop, the cause is most likely dietary. If it’s a urinary problem, it’s best to see a vet and explain about the e cuniculi. If it’s sticky poop, it’s not a veterinary emergency, you can try to alter her diet (more hay, less pellets, no treats).

You can give a bun a butt bath in lukewarm water. Then you pat her dry and put a barrier cream on her if her skin is bare. This is especially important if it’s urine, urine “burns” the skin. A really fat cream like nappy rash cream or bag balm helps protect the skin.

Thanks for the reply! And yes it’s urine. Good to know I’ll take her to my vet asap and explain to her about oatmeal’s e cuniculi and messy bottom situation.
