So. My neutered rabbit, Licorice, has always been rather aloof and anti social. If I go to pet him when he’s not in his cage, he runs away. Which is totally fine with me, as he’s always been this way. He never bites or shows aggression, and will let my dad pet him.

About four days ago, my dad said he seemed to be in a good mood, coming up to everyone when he was out. Jumping on the couch. Binkying, which he isn’t big on. He more of shakes himself for a binky. And sprinting across rooms like he did when he was younger. (He isn’t an old rabbit!)

Last night, I walked down the stairs, and he came hopping right up. Which he never does, but was especially surprising since I handled him the day before for a bonding session. (He hates being handled and wasn’t before us. After being handled he usually holds a grudge.) So I sat down and be sniffed and circled me. He’s neutered, by the way.

Then I finished going down the stairs, and sat down on the floor because he was following me. Right into my lap! He hasn’t done that for two years or so, not without food.

So as he’s not sick, my question is this – is he in some way happier? Or just doing this because he feels closer to us?

          Isn’t Winter new?

Maybe Licorice is more stimulated and happy with a new bunny (even though they’re not bonded yet)?

Or maybe he wants to make sure you know you are his!

Either way, sounds like a positive development. I think its safe to say he is happier and feeling closer to you. Although he probably wasn’t the least bit unhappy before. You’d know an unhappy bunny! He’s probably enjoying the extra stimulation.
