  Since i have my girls in a XL dog kennel which seems to be working out really well, but I would like to put another level. I am not quite sure how to go about building another level, I thought about using the divider that comes with the cage but that was way to flimsy. So i am wondering if wood would work? Has anyone else done this? if so please post a picture!!!

  I haven’t done it before, but wood sounds like it would be a lot sturdier. Poplar wood is safe for rabbits and is inexpensive.

  Azerane built a really nice, sturdy plywood and linoleum second story. I’ve been wanting to do something similar since seeing the photos. She posted photos and instructions in this thread: Wood Base and Second Level

  Ok! thanks! Would most hardware stores have poplar wood? I have usually only seen pine. Pine is a big no no for rabbits correct?

  I posted a pic of mine but can’t remember in which thread….lol. I have 2 parallel wooden poles that rest on a horizontal bar of the cage with a shelf resting (sturdily) on the top of the 2 poles….
  The buns don’t seem bothered by the poles at tall. No chewing….

  Pine timber prepared for building is fine because it’s generally always kiln-dried. I used pine for mine Just make sure it’s not treated with anything.

  Hope you can make out the photo. The poles of course go through and rest on the other side of the cage.
  
  I made little grooves in the poles for the cage to fit into so there was no danger of it moving with a 6kg rabbit thumping up and down on it…
  
  And stuck a carpet square on the board it so she didn’t slip.
  
  The board is a very snug fit, just placed on the square poles (can a “pole” be “square” ? lol) and totally removeable for transport.
